Come in if you've been to the Excellence Playa Mujeres

I know there's a thread about favorite adults-only, all-inclusives. I have a similar question for those that have been to the EPM.

We honeymooned at the EPM and LOVED it. Loved the food, loved the people we met, loved the the nightlife (eg: people were out after 8pm, but people weren't partying all night). Only thing we thought could be better was the beach.

If you've been to the EPM, what other adults-only, all-inclusive resorts would you recommend? We went to Couples Negril last year and it wasn't our cup of tea (the biggest thing is we were underwhelmed by the food). We aren't opposed to returning to Jamaica, but not to a Couples resort.

We'd like to pay <$1500 pp, not including airfare, for 7 nights.

Re: Come in if you've been to the Excellence Playa Mujeres

  • Good to hear you liked EPM - I just booked a trip there for December about 30 minutes ago! :) I'd love to hear more about what you liked, didn't like, etc.

I haven't been to EPM, but my H and I loved The Royal Cancun. Some others we looked at for our December trip - Secrets Maroma, Live Aqua, Le Blanc, Valentin Imperial Maya, Zoetry Paraiso la Bonita (adults-oriented, but does allow kids).

  • girlinchicago-thanks for the suggestions! I'll have to take a look at those. I looked into Le Blanc already and they're a bit more than we want to spend, but I will check into the others.

Things we liked about EPM: Great drinks, good food (granted I'm no foodie, but lots of selection and everything I tried--with the exception of one dish--was tasty), plenty of bars, and an awesome pool area. What's great about the pool is there's lots going on near the bar, but a ton of quieter spots, like the lazy river, if you want something more low-key. Oh, and the rooms are gorgeous.

Things that we didn't like: 24 hour room service was great, but often slow. The pool bar could get very busy in the afternoon. The beach isn't really swimable, but a great place to lay out.

Excellence Club is nice, but not necessary. We wouldn't get it again, unless it were a special occasion.

The more I think about it, the more I think we may end up back at EPM. It was really fantastic. I just like trying new places!
