I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I am wondering if someone here can help me. My 3 year old cut open her face today and required "glue" (instead of stitches.) The scar will be slightly under her eye, and it's pretty big, and today bright red. The dr said that it will be bright red for awhile and heal to a white scar, but it could take a full year. Is there anything that you know of that I can apply to help her have minimal scarring? I tend to prefer natural/organic type of products. Thanks for your help!

There is a product called Iamin Hydrating Gel for wounds that is a copper peptide product that significantly speeds up healing. When I google it online, it looks like it is no longer available and I don't see any comparable products.
Doctors used to recommend Vitamin E oil for healing, but that has been proven ineffective.
I read an article the other day (I accidentally came across it while googling for something else) citing a study where Merderma didn't speed up the healing process. I'm sure you can find it by googling. Of course, there are probably a bunch of studies saying the exact opposite.
Honey is supposed to be a good wound healing agent. There is a company called MediHoney and their products are FDA approved. http://www.comvita.com/medihoney/medihoney-first-aid/medihoney-antibacterial-honey.html You can search for it on the FDA website. No clue if it's really proven that it helps.
Of course talk to your doctor. Did you ask him this question?
Sunblock for sure.
I had a staph infection in my wrist and a huge nasty incision/scar when I was a teenager. The plastic surgeon who treated me told me it isn't the meds that people put on scars, it is actually massaging them in. He said to keep the scar hydrated and to rub it with lotion a few times a day to keep it smooth. He told me normal hand lotion would be just as effective -- which obviously you aren't going to use near DD's eye, but I'm sure your pedi will let you know of a good solution.
Good news is that kids heal much better than we do! I've had students (I teach K) who are blonde and super fair get gashes on their face with stiches and they are left with barely any scar after it heals.
