Why is oil rubbed anything so $$$
I need two sets of new shower faucet (handles, shower head, spout)
The cheapest oil rubbed faucet is $30 ...a plain Jane silver on $10
why?
so another question...
if I buy the cheap silver one and some Rustolium spray paint would that be disasterous
Re: Why is oil rubbed anything so $$$
I would question the quality of the $10.00 plain metal one...
A shower faucet is something that should last for a long time. It's something that you should consider spending a little bit of money on, just to make sure you are purchasing something that will last. Otherwise, you will spend more in the long run.
I would not paint a shower faucet... (There are other things that I would say, go for it... vent covers, even door knobs.... not shower faucets...)
That price actually seems really cheap to me...we just bought a new shower head/facuet in chrome and it was way more than that, and we ordered it through my dad's store, so it was at his cost, not even retail price.
Although I realize the point of your post was that oil rubbed bronze it always WAY more expensive, and I have never understood why either!
I also would not buy a cheap faucet. I had one that came with the place, six months old and the whole thing exploded leaving a gush of water spewing all over my basement.
My chrome kitchen faucet was $100.00 alone when I bought it last week...I would question a shower faucet as cheap as you list.
I also would not paint. I don't care what anyone says, that can't possibly last or look right.
I actually just came across an article about using krylon paint to get that oil-rubbed look yesterday. Our house has the oil rubbed doorknobs, drawer pulls/handles, and light fixtures, but silver faucets. Apparently this works fine (the first blogger did doorknobs and vent covers, the second did faucets, and apparently neither had any problems)
