Re: lip to tip on FM

  • I saw that one. The boy is screwed. There is nothing you can do if one person on a joint account decides to withdraw money. Nothing. The same thing happens to couples going through a divorce all the time.
I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • Nooo, Muddled its not only that. Its more of: I'm an independent woman, we dont need anyone but our love (except $ from his family), dont judge me, etc.

  • Also at age 20-21, one cannot properly assess whether or not the jerkosity of the family hasnt rubbed off on the offspring.

lol. Yeah, I didn't read past the OP.

What does she say? She's totally independent, but he is completely dependent on his family for money and she is fine with that? No double standards. Nope.

  • She also wont speak to them/have any interactions with them.

  • You are so right, PM. That one was so much better than I imagined.

I love that her primary reason for getting married now is that she doesn't want to have to plan a wedding during her senior year. lol.

I can't think of a better reason to get married now. It's all quite logical, isn't it?

  • I love your response, PM.

I have a feeling that'll be the next climax to the story and of course she'll turn it around on his mother. After all, the OP only works 20 hours a week so she can't possibly afford BC (even though it's probably free or low cost at the university clinic) so her BF was helping with that cost... but he can't now that he has to support himself. Pull and pray it is!

  • Oh yeah

    this is gold:

I thought she said on FM that they are paying for the wedding themselves. You know b/c she works 25 hrs/wk and has a 401k

    ETA

: no, she did admit that her parents put down the deposit.

  • My favorite part of that post is how he haaaas to be a 5th year senior, because of his double major. In music ed and biology. I guffawed irl.

  • I wanna know what she thinks is going to happen after they are married... "horrible" MIL is going to all of the sudden play by OPs rules?

FI will realize how amazing OP is, and will cut off his family entirely for her.
