HIMYM 4/16 question *spoilers*
What did the text that Ted sent to Robin say? I didn't have my contacts in!
Re: HIMYM 4/16 question *spoilers*
Something along the lines of " I know we are not talking right now but I'm glad you are ok. "
I'm sure that's not word for word correct.
Yeah, that was pretty much it.
This felt like a filler episode. I got a few yuks out of Barney and Ted's adventures but that was it. Marshall was a jerk to hold a grudge against Lily for a stupid dream. I was glad to see Ranjit again but it was a waste to put him in this episode. Robin landing the helicopter was stupid.
This must be what it feels like to be a cheerleader for a sucky team. haha. Waste of another episode.
The whole "The night we....." was lame. Ted spilling soup on himself in the nude and screaming was funny. And I lol'ed when Robin told her dad that she would try harder.
The episode started off good but then went downhill. I was excited thinking we'd finally get a good one! Oh well, at least tying up the dress story at the end was neat.
When they said that Robin got phone calls from everyone she knew I totally thought Don was going to call and they'd get back together. I wasn't sure where they were going with the phone call thing, but the one from her dad was funny.
Darn, I was hoping it said more.
Thanks!
I agree. For all his stripper-pride, her job obviously bothers him, and she's said she'll only quit if she gets married. It seems too easy though, since we know he's going to be getting married *soon*. The idea of him getting engaged to Quinn, with such an obvious set-up, seems like a red-herring. That being said, they can't drag it out much longer, so it's either he's getting engaged to her, or they break up and he does some kind of rebound at Robin and gets engaged to her instead. Feels forced either way, but they really don't have time to introduce another girl.

I can't go back to yesterday - because I was a different person then. ~ Alice
I read an interview a while back with the show's creator, and he said the identity of Barney's bride will be revealed in season 7. I have to assume it's Quinn, since we're nearing the end of the season. I'm not the world's biggest Quinn fan or anything, but I prefer that set up to Robin.
Yes, this season's finale will reveal who the bride is. That scene is obviously going to be a flash-forward, but there's no telling when it's going to be a flash-forward TO. I don't think it's going to be anytime soon, because Lily was shown to be very non-pregnant so it's not going to be right after she has the baby.
Barney's wedding could be taking place in, say, May 2013, at the end of Season 8 (which many are saying is the final season). It's possible that they could bring in a whole new woman in the flash-forward, and then Season 8 could be spent getting to know this new girl.
But I agree that it's likely either Quinn or Robin, and I'm putting my bet on Robin.
I totally thought it would be Don too! I'm disappointed it wasn't.
DUP
I forget who the actor was, but he was cast on another show (which I also forget, lol) and they couldn't use him on HIMYM anymore. I think I read that that's why they brought in Kal Penn as a love interest for Robin.
I'm kind of glad they dropped that storyline anyway. Hearing Robin call him "my crush" made me want to barf.
*ETA: Michael Trucco from Fairly Legal
Yes, I just used the googles and his name is Michael Trucco. I wasn't all that crazy about the storyline, either, but I feel like they can't just forget about it after Ted mentioned that. Maybe he'll just be back for one ep or something.
One really stupid thing annoyed me in this episode:
When Barney locked Ted out of his apartment Ted went to the bar to use the phone. Is Quinn's apartment really that close to the bar? There's nothing closer?
And yeah, when he said that Robin got calls from almost everyone she knew I thought they were setting it up for something big. It was pretty lame that they didn't follow it up with anything.
Can they really not come up with any story lines for Lily and Marshall just because she's pregnant?

I'd have to assume she has the baby on the season finale, or close to it.
But I definitely don't think babies ever provide anything good for a sitcom.
There are two more new episodes this season. The next one is April 30. The season finale on May 14 is a one-hour episode, and the notes say that Lily will go into labor in the first part.
I think it's natural progression on this particular show that the married couple has a baby and we get to watch them deal with it for a season, since the show is all about a bunch of young people growing up.
However, I agree with you that a baby is usually the Kiss of Death for a sitcom. And with the writing on HIMYM lately, especially with how dopey Marshall and Lily's characters have gotten, I don't have much faith that the baby storyline will be handled well.
Hopefully they wrap up the series next year.
