Help me find a vacation spot
We are going on a 4 day family vacation in September to celebrate my Mom's 60th birthday. The problem is we can't agree on a location. We would like to rent a house, or condo.
My sister's requirements are somewhere without a crazy travel time and warm sandy beaches. She also doesn't want to be stuck on a resort and would like a short drive into town.
I will be a first time mom traveling with a 9 week old. He won't be able to wear sunscreen so as much as I will appreciate the ocean views - we won't be spending too much time on the beach. Since we're only there for 4 days I would like to have more of a resort like feel where there is hiking, bike rentals, etc. on the grounds so we don't have to go in to town if we don't want to. Although, it would be nice to have that option.
We will be flying out of Austin, TX. A roundtrip flight would be a huge bonus.
With all that in mind, where would you go?

Re: Help me find a vacation spot
I was going to say something like Hilton Head, Kiawah Island or Captiva Island (South Seas).
Also, don't rule out the beach time just because you have a 9 week old. We took our son to Maui when he was just a few weeks older than that and spent plenty of time on the beach. We just made sure to get a sun shade/umbrella. We actually brought his car seat down to the beach because he really just wanted to sleep most of the time and he found the car seat more comfortable for his naps than the blankets on the beach.
