Did you just DD? I was trying to comment on your family vacation thread and it disappeared.

Re: Dairy
Yeah I did...It was too long and too personal...I was trying to edit it down a little bit more.
I also feared I was going to get 800 unhelpful comments about how "I could never be together with anyone that long...just go to a hotel." "Uhh... a vacation at home?" Ick. LOL.
I got tired of trying to type the justification as to why it's okay so I gave up!
Any suggestions for me though? I'm welcome. Post away.
A scavenger hunt or treasure hunt for the kids? I bet even the uncles would join in to help the kids race around the farm looking for clues or items on a list.
Thanks! That is good! Everyone in Hs family would be into that. I just have to figure out how to go about it, so it's safe but still fun. And so BSC crazy SIL doesn't whine about, "OMG. Outside. You expect me too go outside!" LOL.
H suggested we really go "down home" and make everyone get up at 5 am, stack hay, feed some calves and milk a couple cows. You know...really relive their childhoods.
And this why I'm in charge of planning Hs family vacation and not H.
I'm stealing this idea from someone I know...
What about spray painting rocks and hiding them all around the farm? Kids can be on the hunt for them all weekend and trade them in for prizes. 5 rocks gets a bag of candy, 10 rocks gets a dollar store toy, etc?
No they all will be made aware. And honestly, none of them care. They love to come back home anyways. Hs family is so easy going it's just fine by them.
That and it's not as bad as it sounds. I have 2 extra bedrooms. My MIL has 5 bedrooms plus a basement recroom she's kind of turned into a camp out space for the kids. There's 6 full bathrooms between my house and MILs...so it's not bad at all.
I was going to do it up right too...numbers on the bedroom doors, folded linens, nice towels, cute little soap kits, a welcome basket etc. etc.
I would never be like, "here have an air mattress and my couch. Happy vacationing."
The rule from my inlaws is that the hotel has to be within a 3 hour driving distance in any direction. Well this has been going on so long...we're kind of out of options. That and it seems like every 5ish years (back when my MIL planned alone) it ended up on the farm...so they're expecting it.
Ok that makes total sense. I get it
Haha, you should tease them by telling them really seriously that your agenda includes a pig calling contest and a wife carrying contest.
LOL. Hs family would be all over that. And I grew up on a hog farm..I can call hogs like nobody's business!
And a wife carrying contest would go over big time here too...;)
