AW PIP skorts :)

I made a couple of these this past week/weekend.  Love this pattern--it is the Isabella skort from 5Berries.  A few more pics in my blog if you are interested :)

  • Seriously so cute.  Honestly where do you find the time?!  You amaze me...
  • Adorable, as always! I am so happy to be making spring-y stuff again, though it never really got cold enough to really need winter-y stuff this year.

Nights and weekends :)  DH plays tennis on Saturday mornings/early afternoon, so when he gets home, he gets 100% kid duty if I am in the mood to sew.  LA has been doing really well going to bed lately, so I am able to sew in the evenings (if I am not too tired).

I know!  I purchased a couple of really cute sweater dresses for LA this fall...umm...wore them ONCE.  Luckily, they will be cute as tunics with leggings next year (if it gets cold enough).  I love sewing spring/summer stuff.  Quick and simple!

  • I really need to figure out the rolled hem on my serger. I love the look of it on those skirts and I'd like to use it on one of the dresses I'm making.

Any tips? My serger and I aren't exactly besties.

Neither were me and mine a few weeks ago when she decided to get a big fat attitude with me--so I sent her to the shop for a 2 week TO (they call it a tune-up, I call it time-out).

I found that I really don't have to fiddle with my tension too much to get a good rolled hem, but the stitch length and width.  Mine has an "R" setting for both, so I put it there and 99% of the time, we are good to go.  The book cmeon recommends really helped me understand how the tension on my machine works--I'm sure you could find the same info on the internet.  Working with different color threads on each spool helped so I could "see" what was happening.

Oh, and when you find the magic combo of settings that work for you--write it down and DON'T lose it!  Trust me...been there, done that.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

  • Love them!  Always surprised that there's not more patterns for skorts, or heck, even more skorts to buy in the stores!
