I am getting back to sewing after not touching a machine in over a decade. I've tackled some throw pillows and a couple of skirts, and I decided that I was going to make my Easter dress and a matching fascinator.
I always measure as a 12 on patterns, so that's what I made, but the dress didn't fit right at all when I got the zipper in. I remember having the same problem in high school-- I always measured as a 12 and always had to take the dresses in. Anyway, I basically made the zipper into one giant dart but miscalculated where the point should be, so I had this really attractive bulge in the small of my back.
So I ripped that section out and fixed it. The zipper looked great the first time around but after two partial re-dos, it doesn't look so hot now. I may have to go back and take it totally out and put it in properly.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

Ohh, thanks for the tip. I am short-waisted! I was running out of time at that point and was sick of the sight of the thing after so many weekends, LOL, so I did the first thing that I could figure out to address the problem. Next time I do a dress I'll make sure to adjust the bodice height. Petite clothes never fit me correctly for some reason (I am short but leggy and have long arms or something), but maybe I should try petite patterns, too.

wow, that looks awesome!
and I admittedly am jealous when people sew clothes that they themselves can fit into! The whole adjustment thing scares me far far away!
