Crown moulding to frame a bathroom mirror?

Is this brilliant or will it look like I used crown moulding to frame my bathroom mirror?

lol.

I don't want to deal with cutting angle corners so was just going to use the square accent pieces on the corners.

Considered Mirr-Edge but reviews say it looks cheap and plasticky. Plus, the crown moulding is less expensive.

I'm not envisioning how you'd do it that would look right. Crown molding is installed kind of on the 45, with flanges that are flush with the ceiling and the wall. In order to have one edge on the mirror and one on the wall, the molding would be at a strange angle.

I was going to try the same thing using this method. I think the key though is that she didn't use crown moulding the whole way around, just at the top. Also, if you can, I'd do it with the angles at the corners. You don't need a whole lot of effort to do this, just a miter box and hand saw.

I plan on doing this using the square accent pieces, too. I'm still researching how to do this. My biggest concern is the big metal strip at the bottom of the mirror. Also, how to make it so the moulding lies flat against the wall. It looks easy to do, but I'm not very handy and neither is my husband.

So really, this is the only moulding related tip I know, but if you live in an older house, your walls might be slightly warped and make it hard to lay the moulding flat against the walls. If so, spray down the moulding with a hose and let it sit overnight; it will make the wood more flexible when you try to put it up. I've never actually done this, I just know that's what my parents had to do to put up chair rails in their house.

I framed my mirror a few months ago. I used flat trim and the square corner pieces, I thought it turned out pretty well. Remember to paint the back of the trim so the bare wood doesn't reflect into the mirror. My mirror was glued directly to the wall so I didn't have to deal with mirror clips. To adhere the trim to the mirror I cheated. I used 3m velcro strips. You can't tell and it's easily removable!

Ooh, I like the velcro idea! I was just looking at hevy duty velcro strips in Lowe's today.
