morning routine question

How much time do you give yourself in the mornings to get ready?

What time do you wake up? What time do you leave?

Right now I get up at 5 and wake the boys up at 6 and we leave the house at 6:30. When we move I will have to leave about 15 minutes early, but I have tons of extra time right now. I love all of my extra time int he mornings to clean, get dinner prepared, and play with the boys. I am nervous about loosing some of that.

Re: morning routine question

  • I get up between 5:00 and 5:15 and I leave my house at 7:00.

In that time I shower (I take Loooong showers!), do my makeup and hair, get dressed, pack my breakfast and lunch, tiddy up the kitchen, take something out for dinner or get something in the crockpot, and take care of the cat. I also usually have time to watch the news and have some coffee/tea for about 15 mins.

  • I get up at 6:00. I take about an hour to get ready (shower, dry and do hair, makeup, get dressed etc) and that gives me an hour (we leave the house at 8 to be to work by 9) to feed Hayden, change her and get her ready. Usually I'm getting her ready and me at the same time or she's first then me. Just kind of whatever the day brings. That also leaves me time to get her and all her stuff loaded up for daycare, let the dogs out and put them in their kennels. I also make sure I have time to make my bed every day. It drives me bonkers when it's not done, like I will think about it all day and more than likely drive home on my lunch and make it if it didn't get done. I know, I'm a weirdo. I need to give myself more time to get stuff out for dinner but I'm just not ready to give up the little sleep I do get.

  • I get up at 4:15 and leave the house at 4:45.  Not much time to do anything but get dressed, make my smoothie, and grab a piece of toast or a bar to eat on the way to the Y.  Class from 5:15 to 6:30, then I shower and dress at the Y.  I'm at my desk by 7:15 at the latest.

  • I'm up at 6:00.  (non-daycare day) I get right into the shower, get ready and am out the door by 6:30 and at my desk by 7:00.  Daycare days - up at 6, wake the boys up get them started with breakfast. While their eating I am getting the last of their bags packed for daycare. Then I get ready, get them dressed and out the door by 6:50 and I'm at my desk by 7:30-7:45

  • I get up around 7-7:30 get ready and then putter around the house, prep dinner, watch the news and read until walk to work at 10. I wish I could change it and go back to a 9-5 work hours.

  • I get up about 5:45, jump in the shower, do my hair and makeup, get dressed, let the dogs out while I toast my English muffin and put my lunch in my lunch bag (I prep everything the night before). Then I bring the dogs back up to bed, kiss Ed and reset the alarm for him, and am out the door about 6:20 (6:25 if the dogs are being stubborn). I'm at work a little before 7.

  • Up at 6:15am, put together a take-in breakfast for Josh, eat something small for my breakfast and have some coffee, water. Prod Josh out of bed at 6:30, and then pack my lunch while he showers. I'm in the shower by 6:45/50, out by 7am. Quickly get ready--out the door by 7:15 on a good day, 7:30 on a slow one (like today!). I walk a mile to the Metro, commute, then walk another half-mile to work (stop to get coffee). I'm at my desk by 8:30am.

  • I get up by 6:30 - 7:00. I shower, do hair/makeup, and get dressed. Then I heat up my breakfast and pack my lunch. I try to be out of my house by 7:30 (though usually it's closer to 7:45). I get to work by 8:00-8:15.
  • Not nearly enough.  I should get out of bed at 7:00 so I can leave for the train at 8:00.  This never happens, therefore I am always late to work.

  • My alarm is set for 6:26. Weird time, I know. I hit my alarm setting button by accident and never fixed it. I shower, do make-up and hair (which consists of either blow drying it or putting it up in a sock bun) and get out the door between 7:00-7:15. I make my lunch and breakfast the night before, so I grab that on the way out the door. If all my connections work and there aren't any subway delays, I'm in my classroom by 8:15 (where I'm eating breakfast and spilling mint tea all over the place). My home room starts at 8:45 and the first class of the day begins at 8:53.

  • my alarm goes off at 9 I get out of bed and get dressed, set my phone alarm for 9:45 go back to bed and wake up again at 9:45, make my lunch and try to be out the door by 9:55 at the latest (it only takes me 5 minutes to get to work), but usually I get out the door at 10 and am a few minutes late. my client doesn't care.
  • I've been changing up my mornings as I'm trying to eat breakfast at home now, or else I'm struggling by the time I get to work.

So, alarm goes off at 6:20 and I get up after a couple of snoozes.  I hop in the shower, then get breakfast and go on the computer for 15min or so while I eat and let my hair air dry for a bit.  I also lay out the snacks I bring in to work that day (I but lunch at the office, but like to bring my own fruit/veg snacks).  Then I blow dry my hair, put on my make up and get dressed.  Hopefully I'll be out the door by 8 or shortly after, to get into work before 9.

  • Alarm goes off at 7:30, and I'm out the door by 8. I usually drop Jackson off at daycare around 815 and am at my desk around 8:30/845ish. Jackson gets a bottle in his crib while I get ready in the morning, and that helps a lot. Jay feeds the dogs before he leaves for work and lets the cats out. If there's a mess, I still have some time, because I don't need to be at work until 9. So far, I don't even come close, but I'm sure there will be days. This new job has me back on a good schedule.
