My ds fell and had to have his tooth extracted. The dentist said that a side effect of the meds was anything from crying to a tantrum.
Yeah, well I think she forgot to tell me about the potential for crazy rage. I thought his head was going to start spinning and he was going to start foaming at the mouth.
So umm, tantrums can really look like anything :0
Re: s/o handcuffed girl
Above Us Only Sky
Poor lil' man.
I remember being given something as a kid that sent me into a total rage for no apparent reason.
He was more like arms flailing and screaming at the top of his lungs. He also called his dad a "poopie head" which brought some levity :O
Further proof my pediatric dentist was an ass. He didn't use enough novocain, on more than one occasion, and he'd smack your face if you cried. Which I did b/c getting 4 teeth yanked at once hurts. I wish I'd gotten versed.
Still, that kind of rage tantrum isn't just a tantrum, especially at school, caused by a "mood."
I'm sorry, what?
Right? I hope someone smacked him back!
The last time I was there, after the 4 teeth extraction, I was shaking so badly when I left that my dad asked his adults-only dentist friend to make an exception for me.
See why I effing hate the dentist?
ETA Bonus, he also told me only babies cry.
I would've had his head bronzed and sitting on my mantel if you were my kid. Hell, I kinda want to find him and eff him up for you. I wonder if HAB is free?
OMG, Sibil. That's awful. This guy sounds like the Steve Martin character from Little Shop of Horrors, minus the humor.
SIbil, that is insane.I would be still afraid to go to a dentist if I were you.
My ped dentist was the best. His office was western theme complete with a lifesized bull you could ride on. He set a high bar.
OP, oh how I feel your pain. My kids are both on steroids right now. Side effects: not wanting to sleep + irritability. And they weren't lyin'. Add that into what happens when they get albuterol treatments... and yeah. Every day is like a training class in how to defend yourself and pin down babies who are experiencing an exorcism. Tomorrow I might see one of their heads do a full 360.
ETA: When I read that headline about the handcuffs, my first thought was, "Hmmm handcuffs.... That might work...."
Sibil - that is just horrifying.
Caden~
I feel you with the steroids. Lucky for us when he is on them he does not do too bad... a lot of energy but no sleep/irritability. Albuterol always makes him sleep. This was the first time meds have caused him to go ape shizz and I was not happy.
Hope your kids do fine with the steroids, ds took his last dose a few mins ago. Yay us!
Fo shizzle, mah nizzle!
Just gimme a minute to pump out a bottle for the baby. lol
Click me, click me!
DS was on oral steroids at 18 months. I remember DH and I sitting on the floor in a sleep deprived stupor early one morning while DS ran around the house in circles, for hours. *shudder*
