Re: NYC- things to do w. 5 year old inside?

  • museum of natural history dinosaur floor ... always a hit with boys (and girls) of any age!

  • that's what my dh just said too, thanks! is that in the movie with ben stein, night at the museum?

my son keeps saying he wants to find spiderman and kevin from home alone when he gets there, lol

  • The Museum of Natural History also has a "Discovery Room" which is really cool!  We took DS when we were at the museum; he wasn't quite 2 yet so there wasn't much for him, but he loved it anyway.  For a 5 year old it would be really cool.  The whole museum is great for kids!

  • Can I ask where you're staying? We're taking our 5 yr old in July and have no idea what area of the city to even start looking for hotels in.
  • FYI- the museum is a charged on donation basis. Even though in big letters (numbers)it will say the price, that is what they recommend. If you don't want to spend a lot, you don't have to!

we are staying at the marriott in long island. we have a fam party there on sat and then heading to nyc for the day sunday before heading home.

we also stay at the marriott marquis at christmas. i love that one.

also there is a marriott in hoboken that we have stayed at before for a wedding we had in nyc, which was right next to the train station (we could walk) and hop on to go into the city. i liked that one as well and hoboken is such a cute town.

we use points so that is why we are always staying at marriotts. :)

oh i also stayed at the w hotel with girlfriends last summer for a goo goo dolls concert that was in the hotel and loved that. I am not even really sure where we were though b/c we stayed there most of the night then just went to a bar that was down the street after the concert.

have you checked any deal sites out? i would start there first and see what kind of pricing you get.

have fun! and thanks ladies for the suggestions!

I've stayed at Marriott Marquis twice and love it.  The rooms are nice and it's an great central location!

OP- I too agree with NH Museum.  I took the kids I nannied when they were 3 and 5 (boy and girl) and we all loved it.
