Picture frame moulding (molding?) for 1928 house

Google has failed me.  What type of picture frame moulding should go in my dining room?

TOrn between the chair rail with the rectangle boxes

Or

A small lip with boards forming the rectangles.

Let me know if you need PIPs and I'll get on the computer.

Id really like to stay w the period and character of the house.

Its a 1928 dutch colonial.

  • I don't think I'm following what you are after, but I get all my mouldings from here. They have a downloadable catalog that has a whole section on chair rails and wainscot components. HTH!
