Late AW for my mom (Boston)

I missed all the Boston posts from this weekend but I just wanted to AW for my mom for finishing. She's 51 and finished in just under 5 hours. She was disappointed because it was an hour slower that her qualifying race but just finishing was an accomplishment yesterday.

I ended up running almost 17 miles with her. I'm glad I ended up doing it. It was brutal! We were outside in the sun for over 2 hours before the start so we were tired before we even started. Even the first mile dragged. At 5 miles she said she wasn't sure if she'd even be able to finish. Then we started walking through the water stopped so that got her feeling a little better. I'm so proud of her.

Daisy-I'm glad to see you were able to defer!

Congrats to your dad too. My mom said the same thing. At 5 miles she told me she didn't know if she would be able to finish. I got her to give me her Fuel Belt then which was weighing her down a lot and we just walked through the water stops to make sure we were taking enough in. The crowd support for the race was amazing.

  • Awesome job to your mom!  That's great that you ran with her, sounds like she really needed the support.
