I'm going to an e-party this weekend for DH's cousin. We're having a cool spell here: it's been in the 80s for weeks, but the forecast for Saturday is a high of 65? and a low of 48?. It's a cookout outside. The dress code is nicer than jeans but less than cocktail. I was planning on wearing a sundress and cardigan originally, but it's going to be too cool for that.

some nice trousers (I'm thinking black or gray) and a cute sparkly top? with wedges. add a cardigan or blazer for warmth on top.

That's pretty cold to be outside all day. What about a dress with thicker tights and a pair of boots?

I would prob wear a slim Capri (like the jcrew cafe Capri) with flats, a cute top, and a cardigan.

This is what I was thinking. I'd freeze my buns off. Hopefully they move the event indoors, but if they don't I'd wear a long sleeved sweater dress with tights and boots or a dress with a cardigan and I'd bring a thicker blazer too.

I'd wear chinos then.
