My birthday is Fri. My grandpa called me every single year for my birthday, even last year when he was in the hospital. Last year was the first year I didn't get a card since he was ill. He passed away last June so this is the first year ever that I won't get a phone call. It might not sound like much but when you're one of five kids a long distance phone call just for you is pretty cool, lol.
Anyway, I'm really missing him right now and I'm a basket case so I'm trying to think of something I could do to turn my sadness in to something good. So, something positive to do inhis memory and in honor of how thoughtful he always was.
Re: ndr: ways to remember
I hate that feeling. I get that a lot with loved ones that are no longer with me. A song, a moment, an event, or whatever gets me thinking about it.
What about writing a letter to him? Maybe think of what you would say in a birthday phone call to him.
Hang in there!
While my grandmother was still alive (she passed in 1997) she used to come to our house and wake me up really early and take me for breakfast and ice cream. There are still certain songs that I can't listen to without turning into a crying blubbering mess. Its hard to believe that I have now lives more of my life without her than with her.
I agree with PP, writing a letter makes things feel a lot better
This is really sweet, and great advice.
