For those maintaining and counting calories

I am 0.8lbs away from my goal weight and I am starting to think ahead.

If you count calories while maintaining your weight, do you eat higher calories only on the days you workout, or do you eat at more of an average each week and still workout a certain number of days a week?

That sounds very confusing, but it's clear in my mind, lol. I ask because while losing weight, there have been times when I workout JUST so I can eat more that day and not for the sake of exercising. I will be training for a half marathon and am trying to figure out if I should have a main calorie base for each day regardless if I workout, or only eat higher on days I workout.

TIA

Re: For those maintaining and counting calories

  • I eat more calories on the days I work out... buuut I work out 6-7 days a week... So it's pretty much all the time. I eat about 1,200-1,500 a day and try to eat back most of what I burn.

  • I eat more of my calories on the weekends but I also do my harder workouts on the weekends.  I try to be careful to get enough protein on the lower days during the week but for the most part I don't worry about eating more on workout days.
