Re: Sad Rocksie, is sad.

  • Poo baby :( did they give her any pain meds?  I've been fortunate and not had to take any of our pets in for surgery other than spay/nueter so idk what the typical practice is, if they typically give pain meds or not.  Hope she heals quickly and that the pain subsides.
  • She got IV pain meds at surgery which ended about 4 PM yesterday. They put a pain patch on, but it takes 12-24 hours for that to be effective.  In the meantime, she has oral pain medication that she can take 2 x's a day.  Last night I had to get her to drink water and eat a little something first to make sure that she wouldnt vomit from the anesthesia. She was actually starving but I had to only give her little handfuls at a time so she wouldnt eat too much and throw up. I did get her pain meds in her without issue and she did rest a little but she was very uncomfortable and distraught.

My dad is home with her today and he said that she's doing a little better but she's still uncomfortable. She got her pain meds as well as a mild sedative this morning to help keep her calm.

Its so sad :( breaks my heart. But I know she'll feel better after it! She has to be on 16 weeks of no activity which is going to be TERRIBLE.

  • Aweee poor puupy :( that's so tough because there's only so much you can do but you're doing a great job keeping her as comfortable as possible.  I really do hope the recovery is quick for her since she's such an active doggy! And I hope the pain patch starts working to take the edge off for her.

Understandable. It will be okay though, you're doing your best for her, and she'll feel so much relief in a couple of months it'll all be a forgotten memory for her.
