Do you like your picture on your DL?

I just renewed mine today and OMG, I looked terrible. And I went today because I thought I looked good!! Granted I saw in on a computer screen in full size. I'll see how it looks on the actual DL.

Re: Do you like your picture on your DL?

  • I used to love the picture I had on my DL. The current one is pretty meh. It's not terrible but not great either. When I got my very first DL I didn't realize they would be taking my picture (hey, I was young and stupid....). It was such a bad photo. I remember vividly telling my mother it was the worst photo ever and her response was "Oh, it's not the worst photo I've ever seen. Of course, it's the worst photo I've ever seen of you but there are definitely worst pictures of other people." Lol. She was trying to lighten the mood but she was right.
  • Yes, but it's a funny story! I went in to get my name changed back on my DL 3 days after the actual divorce.  I ended up getting this sassy little old lady (seriously, she had to be 70ish) to take my picture.  She asked why I was changing my name and I sheepishly said "I got divorced".  She apologized and I said "it's okay, I'd rather not be married to someone with a girlfriend".  She instantly lit up and said "well honey, we best make sure you look hot in your picture".  She actually had me take it 3 times to make sure I looked cute! She even offered suggestions for how to smile, tilt my head, pose, etc.  Once it was done, she handed it to me and wished me much success in "finding a new man".

I swear, it was the only pleasant experience I have ever had at the DMV!

  • If you look at my license compared to others in my state, you will notice that my face consumes twice as much space in the box - its like they zoomed way in on me. Plus I look like a teenager trying to give the "sexy" face.

So yes, I like it :)

    J/k

  • Doris that's great! Well they don't want us to smile, we have to have a neutral face. But instead of having a neutral face, I look like I am going to murder someone! Also, she told me to look at a blue dot under the camera lense. Yeah, instead of moving my eyes only, I tilted my head down so it looks like I have some sort of double chin. Why didn't It ask her to take another one...

When I went to change it after getting divorced I also had a great experience with sassy DMV ladies.  There were 2 of them and they were all like, "Gurrrl, good for you to get ridda man who done you wrong! Heck, you couldna even pronounce that old last name anyways!"

I had the opportunity to retake my pic but I liked my old one so I just kept that.   I love that DMV!

  • I'm not crazy about it, but I don't hate it either.

  • Is it bad that I actually like it??

  • That's awesome Doris!

I like my pic, and if I get a bad one next time, I'll just do a retake. Stick out tongue

  • I love my DL pic! It was taken right after I came back from my honeymoon (I didn't change my name back after the divorce), and I was 25lbs skinnier and super tan!

  • Not.at.all.  In Virginia they changed DL policies.  The pictures are in black and white and you can't smile.  We all look like a bunch of convicts.

Ugh I know! I look like a pissed off linebacker.

Maybe their theory is if you ever get pulled over/picked up, you'll be all surly and angry and will match that picture?!? Big Smile

  • No.  It is horrible, I was about 60 lbs heavier then I am now when the picture was taken and my face looks so fat.  The picture before this one looked great so I was super bummed when this one came out looking like that.

  • My last picture was AWFUL!  I had been wearing a hat and running errands.  They made me take off my hat (hat hair!), take off my glasses (so I couldn't see and was squinting), and told me to stick my neck out so I looked all turtle-ish.  It was also right after I broke up with my BF of over 4 years, so I had put on a good 20 pounds.

My knew one isn't good, but compared to my old one, it is awesome.

"Pleasantly neutral expression" my @ss...I look p!ssed off and dangerous haha.

  • Not even remotely. I was almost 80lbs heavier than I am right now, it is not a good look. At least I'm smiling though, I've heard that my state has recently changed it to "neutral expression" only as well, so I can only imagine how bad my picture will be next time around.

  • Yes, I love it! Surprisingly, it is one of the best pics I have ever taken and I am NOT photogenic.

  • I don't mind the picture itself, but every time I look at it I'm taken back to how I got it done the Monday after my honeymoon. I was so excited to change my name that I did everything that day.

  • It's allright.. not my best and not bad either.
  • I look terrible, too. I'd just given my hair a terrible bleach job. And I don't know if it was my makeup, the lighting or both, but my skin looks horrid. I think it's the DOL's ambition to make you look as bad as possible...

It's just me and my Marlon now... and I LOVE it that way!
  • The picture on my US license is a great DL picture, but they used the same picture when I renewed it. So the good picture was when I was so excited to be going in and changing my license to my married name.

Stick out tongue I am not so fond of it now, even though it's a decent photo.

My Norwegian license photo is terrible because I didn't expect to pass the test. When I did, I was in shock, and they're all, "Go over there to the photo booth and take your picture." Luckily I got two chances, because the first one was hor.ri.ble. The second was merely dreadful. I'm wearing my glasses and look totally cross-eyed. And it doesn't expire until I turn 100!!!
