What color would you do?

The bathroom in my daycare (the basement suite of our house) has baby blue countertops. Bleck, but we have a full kitchen redo, new flooring, etc. that come first so will have to live with it for at least a few years, especially since it's just a "kid" bathroom.

Any wall color suggestions to go with this? It also has an 80s oak vanity that I would not be opposed to painting. The main daycare rooms are a really soft butter yellow and I want to choose something else.

Re: What color would you do?

  • I would do either light gray or light blue walls and paint the vanity white. :)

  • I feel your pain.  We had baby blue kitchen counters (and wall to wall livingroom carpet) when we moved in.  Unfortunately I don't have color suggestions for you because I just ripped those suckers out the first chance I got.

  • I would paint the vanity white and do light gray walls like PP suggested.

  • I agree, and maybe a cute whale decal or something.

  • I don't want to do grey - I guess I should have said that in the OP - I already have mostly grey walls upstairs, and I want something bright and fun in the daycare bathroom. Not electric or anything, but something cheery and cute!

  • If you don't mind committing to the kids' theme, how about waves from dark blue/green to light going up the walls and then fishies at the top?

  • A friend was stuck with pale pink fixtures in a bath.  She painted the bath in stripes in butter yellow, apple green, pale pink, bright blue and bright orange. The pale pink walls were already there so she used that as a base coat and then painted the stripes over it.  The stripes were different widths.

  • I was going to suggest a nautical or beach theme. Water and blue go hand in hand, and with kids, it could be fun!

As a daycare mom, I'd love to see these in DD's daycare bathroom!
