non-craft related vent - writing newspaper article about yourself
Last time something cool happened to some friends and myself, I sent a little email to their "story ideas" address thinking they'd email me back for more info, or at least put my highlights into coherent sentences. Nope! They pretty much just copied and pasted it into the newspaper. It didn't even make sense, which was hilarious (though the paper should be embarrassed). So I said to myself, next time I have a scoop on something cool I'll write the whole article for the paper.
Anyway, this time I am the person who did something cool, and it would be awesome promotion for the non-profit I volunteer with to get it into the paper. So now I'm faced with the task of writing an article bragging about myself. The whole thing makes me so uncomfortable. Ugh. I never talk about this stuff to anybody outside of my organization (even then I completely downplay my accomplishments).
So far my article says "Local person Mrs BKF did an awesome thing at a huge conference last weekend."
Off to google newspaper articles for ideas.

That is so uncomfortable. I won some 4-H awards back in the day. The news paper asked if I would submit an article and picture. I tried like 5 times to write it and couldn't. I did the classic, MOM! I need help! She was awesome wrote a great article and had no problems bragging about her kid. LOL
Maybe you could find someone to take the information and write it. Writing about someone else is soooooo much easier.
