Re: Babies and bumps (to-be)

  • Ups:  I told work a few days ago, so it's been kind of nice to be getting all sorts of congratulations.  Everybody is really supportive and happy for us, which makes it so much easier.

Downs:  I've been getting a few headaches recently, but nothing too unmanageable.  It's probably also because of the lack of sleep due to jetlag too.  Also, after seeing some gorgeous samples, we were thinking about having a birth photographer.  However, this is basically unheard of here in the UK, and the ONLY photographer that I could find in London is ridiculously expensive.  I'm going to keep looking, but not sure if it will work out.

I am starting to get a little bump, although it's probably not visible to anybody else.  We took a pic this morning, and I'll try to post it when I get home later.  Some of my work clothes are getting a little snug, so I may have to break out the bella band or some of the maternity clothes I bought soon.

  • Congrats Beth!

Is ECHC in labor? I haven't been able to get on FB once today.

Sushi - yay for coming out at work, that's really exciting!

Ups - I've been banging it out pretty consistently this cycle Stick out tongue

Downs - still need to reschedule my appointment to find out what's going on and how to proceed. I've been reading a lot about PCOS and have pretty much self diagnosed myself at this point.

  • Sushi--can't wait to see your bump! Bailey--FX for you!

Ups: I can see the baby moving now. She kicks and rolls and I can watch her move across my stomach. It is so cool, but complete freaks DH out. Also, we've started making some purchases...the stroller and carseats are on their way, we've narrowed down the crib (I think...). And I have an appointment Friday, so I'm looking forward to hearing how things are going.

Downs: the spotting Sunday made me nervous, but nothing since, so I'm feeling better about it.

  • Preston has learned how to turn Jordan's ds on and cut the sound up. He loves to dance to the mario music. He is really startng to blossom with his vocabulary. He is talking more and more every day. I love the way he says puppy, and he also does his hand up and shrugs his shoulder when he doesn't know where something is. He ask me 100 times "where dog at" its so cute.

    Him with Jordan's ds.

I have to aw Jordan for a minute. got his progress report yesterday from school 2 a's and 1 b. He is exempt from all of his 9 weeks test. I know he is only in 1st grade but I am super proud of him for having all a's and b's all year long. I hope this continues to his new school next year.

  • Ups - Darian had a great time on our trip, and he travelled well! He's babbling up a storm these days and working hard at standing on his own. He can stand for maybe 10 seconds now. It's so exciting to see these changes in him.

Downs - I think he misses all the attention he got on the trip. And he's sick now. And possibly teething. So all of these things have sort of messed up his routine. He's gotten back to his old night time sleeping schedule (1 or 2 wake ups) but his napping schedule is still a little wonky, and he doesn't seem to remember how to put himself to sleep in his crib anymore. Oh well... I'll indulge him until he's well again and then sleep train again, I guess.

  • Ups: Jackson is always cracking us up. He smiles constantly and does this giant cheesy grin just like DH does. I feel like I'm always laughing at him. He's pretty much STTN most nights, minus a random fussy fit, but no crying. I don't think he's legit cried in a long time, other than when he bonks his head on something. Thank you crawling for giving my little man many bumps and bruises.

Downs: Not too many. With my new job and DH changing his work hours, Jackson is thrown off by the dogs waking him up in the mornings. I was so excited to sleep longer, but that backfired a bit. Hopefully we'll figure out a good groove soon. NBR: I've gained some killer weight again, and it's really draining on me. I just dont' have the time or energy to do anything about it. Not to mention, I love snacking so much. It's stupid and annoying that I can't have the willpower to say no.

  • I'm not sure if everyone is on facebook but I know many/most of you have heard about my ups and downs for the last week.

Ups - baby Madison has arrived and is happy and healthy.  She sleeps very well and really doesn't fuss too much.  Our follow up yesterday had her gaining weight and her bilirubin was okay.  She has jaundice but they didn't think she needed any treatment, just eating and pooping!  DH has been fantastic.

Downs - having to have a c-section wasn't my first choice and the recovery has been challenging.  Her 2 day NICU stay was hard on all of us.  My BP issues which we think might be resolving.  Our follow up yesterday was with a nuse who was less than ideal.  She talked WAY too fast and tried to rush us out and treated us like we were stupid or paranoid most of the time.  Sorry if we are first time parents and had questions about our baby.

I've been trying to back off and take it easier starting last night.  Our 2 hour outing on Tuesday left me pretty sore and I didn't think I did that much around the house last night but found I was extremely sore and near tears.  It has been humbling and difficult to go from how active and self reliant I was before delivery to having a small walk be a task and not being able to drive myself anywhere or lift anything heavy.

For those that might be on facebook, here is one of my favourite first pictures with Madison.  I think it's from Saturday in the NICU.

  • Still pregnant!!  Our internet has been on the fritz (of course that would happen the week I start mat leave) so it's been frustrating to get online consistently.

    Here's me yesterday at 38w6d.

    image

I just got back from my weekly dr's apt and while he's pretty sure Chewy is head down, he's sending me for an u/s early next week to confirm.  For now his advice is to "think contractile thoughts".

My only real down right now (other than, y'know, being the size of a barn) is that my fingers on my right hand are almost always numb and tingly to some extent.  I cannot wait for the pregnancy swelling to hit the road.

We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?

  • raynes - that sucks about the swelling but remember that apparently it won't go down right away and might get worse.  I had no swelling whatsoever during pregnancy and now my ankles are HUGE.
