Massage last night

Holy moses.  I was in heaven.  She spent a ton of time on my legs, glutes and IT band.  So painful, but so good.  I feel awesome today.

I suspect this is something I should be doing on the regular.  Anyone have regular massage while training?  Make enough of a difference to justify the cost?  Or is it something I should save for after super long runs and races?

Re: Massage last night

  • I get a massage once a month. Im not a die hard heavy runner, but IMO the cost is totally justified! So so worth every penny! Then again, being in a small town in WI, an hour massage where I go is $45, & thats including what I tip her Big Smile I might feel differently if it was $70-100 though!

  • I love getting massages, but around here (the NYC area) they are pretty expensive.  I usually get them after my half marathons.

  • I had my chiropractor write a script for massage therapy.  I see a woman who specializes in chronic pain and medical massage.  I swear, she can find muscle knots I never knew I had!  I was constantly pulling muscles in my shoulders & neck, even did PT twice, but she has helped so much.  I saw her every 2 weeks in Jan & Feb and now that my pain is mostly under control I try to go once a month. I use my FSA to pay b/c I have the Rx.  I need to call my insurance to see if they'll reimburse me.  It's still worth it even if my insurance won't pay.
