Trouble in Paradise
Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.
If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.
Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
How do you feel about this? (HS quoted in an article)
HS was quoted in an MSNBC article. Her avatar is included in the screen shot.
It makes me want to be extra cautious with photos and other information, but I'm really not sure what I think. We know that anything posted doesn't belong to us and anything we put out there is out there, but it still makes me a little uncomfortable. I honestly think I wouldn't mind at all if they had included the quote, but no screen shot.
What do you think?

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
Re: How do you feel about this? (HS quoted in an article)
I'm a little more weirded out by the fact that clicking the screenshot links you to the post. There are probably plenty of people in there with a lot of personal information in sigs or usernames who have now been directly linked by MSNBC.
I know nothing we put on here is personal which is why I'm really careful about any sort of religious/political post because I don't want to be quoted on any of it. It's kind of a harsh reminder that we don't have a nest bubble.

It sure does.
But... they could Google it and find it. Or they could come directly to The Nest and see all that stuff. You need an account to post, but you don't need one to read. And even if you have a user account, there are plenty of people who read this stuff who have noooo intention of ever posting. For every one person that responds to each post, there are probably like 40 people who read it (and saw the pics of your kids, and the personal information in your post, etc.)

That's exactly why I don't get people putting all that personal info in their sigs. I mean, you KNOW there are more people looking at it than posting. That's why we call them lurkers. They're just out there. Watching us. Even now. (Hi lurkers!)
And yeah, they can google. I just feel like a lot of people are really lazy and wouldn't bother, but might click on a picture in an article to try to magnify it and end up in Bump land. Although landing in the Bump unexpectedly might be kind of like landing in Oz and might scare people off the Internet for a while.
This is why I changed my sn.
It's not a SKY IS FALLING OMG situation, but when it comes down to it, I'd rather try to limit what people know I say on here. Probably doesn't make much of a difference, but eh.
I feel special that I know a big celebrity. Remember me when you hit the big time, HS!
Seriously though, I guess it wouldn't bother me. I don't even have my location in my information, so all anyone would see is a random screen name and a picture of a cute baby.

So I'd never gone to your blog before you said this and I decided to be a creeper.
You are hilarious. I'm only two entries in and I love everything about this blog.
I'm in the "creepy" camp, but I figure almost everyone knows that.
Why thank you!!
