Pre-pregnancy strength??

How long did it take for your pre-pregnancy strength to return?  I worked out for my entire pregnancy, and yet pull-ups, push ups, and heavy weight lifting are still very challenging four months postpartum.

I am trying to be patient and I know my strength will return in time, but I'd be lying if I said it isn't frustrating...

Re: Pre-pregnancy strength??

  • My son is 4 months & I'm just getting back into a groove. In literally the last couple of days pull ups have felt way better & that's especially telling for me since I've always had powerful legs. Hang in there & just keep at it.

  • Thanks for the encouragement! =)

My DS is a big boy and within the past few days I've noticed I have an easier time lifting him overhead than I did a week ago.  So I am just now starting to see progress...just seems like I have such a long way to go!

  • I was so sleep deprived the entire first year it didn't happen really until after that.  I was able to slim down and get more defined, but the strength didn't fully return until I had more regular sleep

  • Ugh. I've been back to the gym for two weeks after my c-section, and I am shocked at how much I've lost in the time that I was gone! I was lifting more at 38.5 weeks pregnant than I can now.

I don't have an answer for you--just wanted to commiserate.
