Flip flops: Reefs vs. Rainbows?

I love LOVE my Reef Sandy sandals- I prefer these to Havaianas. I consistently hear abou the Rainbow sandals and am thinking of trying them out.

Which do you prefer?

If Rainbows, can you LIP or PIP your Rainbow flip flops? I had no idea there were so many styles!

Re: Flip flops: Reefs vs. Rainbows?

  • I have quite a few pairs of both from when I lived at the beach and I like Reefs better. Mostly because they come in "cute" styles and not just plain flip flops. If you wear plain flip flops a lot though, rainbows are great to have in the rotation.

My favorite rainbows are these. They fit my foot the best and they're so comfy.

The other Rainbows I have are the old classic leather style. Very comfy. They look like the below (not my pic) which I don't see on their site, but probably closest to this. Randomly I think I may have the Men's version in these.

If I were going to get some new ones I'd either get these or these.

The only thing hard on Rainbows is the sizing. I wear a 7.5-8 so I'm kind of inbetween a medium and a large which makes it funky. They do stretch to fit your foot so you have to account for that when you try them on. Go with one that feels just slightly too small over one that feels too big. I want to say the leather ones I have stretched and smushed down way more than the canvas strap ones.

    HTH!

  • I tried on Rainbows and they didn't do much for me. My Reef Sandys are super comfy!

  • Personally I like reef's much better, they are softer between the toes than rainbows.  I tend to walk a lot and sometimes between my toes gets sore.

  • I personally like Rainbows better than Reefs.  My Rainbows are so comfy and they will last forever.  And, they have a lifetime guarantee!  I have the double layer sole with the narrow strap (these), and the canvas straps (these), which I think are not as cute, but were awesome when I was coaching swimming.  I agree with pp who said to go with the smaller size if you're in between.

  • i have both and prefer rainbows.  i have the double layered sole w/ thick strap and the double layered sole w/ thin strap. you can't really tell the comfort level of rainbows just by trying them on in the store.  they will be really stiff and probably tight at first, but they conform to your feet after several wears. they also last forever.

  • I love my rainbows.  They did require a breaking in period though.  They're very comfortable.  I've never had Reefs though, so I can't compare.
  • I like my Rainbows (double-layer thin leather strap), but I wish I'd chosen a different color. I got black and after many months the dye from the foot bed still makes the bottom of my feet black. Looks like dirty Britney-feet when I've been wearing them, gross.

  • I think rainbows take a while to break in, but once you do they are really comfortable and last forever.
  • Another vote for Reefs. But like PP, I used to live at the beach and liked to have multiple pairs of flip flops to choose from. Rainbows do last a while once you break them in, but I just don't see the point when I've never had a break in period with any Reefs.
