Finding Sold Prices

Is there an easy way for me to find what places near me sold for?  I know my REA can send me comps for places we are interested, but I was just curious if I could do some (easy) digging myself.  I looked on Trulia and it showed no sold homes in the past 3 months which I am sure is not true.  LOL.  Maybe it's just having some trouble right now.

Re: Finding Sold Prices

  • Not sure if it works where you are, but I use sawbuck.com for that. Agents can look up the particulars - like if there was seller assist or any other concessions - in MLS, but sawbuck will give you the sale price the day it sells or the day after.
  • Zillow will have sold prices up within a week or so of sales.  Their zestimates aren't accurate, but the prices that are listed for sale or that have already sold are.

  • You can find them on realtor.com too.  They have a feature that allows you to plug in an address and see all of the recent sales within a certain radius of the address. It's pretty updated, as my house is already listed and it sold less than a month ago.

Thanks!  I just discovered realtor.com so I will have to check it out.

  • i like redfin way better than any of the above-listed sites, if it's in your market.
  • Our county property appraiser's office has a search function that you can type in the name of a neighborhood, the time frame you want them to search, the square footage, etc and it will give you all recently sold homes within the search parameters you give.  Perhaps you could see if yours offers something similar.

  • I go to Trulia or realtor.com first and if that doesn't work, I just go to the county's assessment site.
