Lana del ray on SNL

I've never heard Lana del ray before, is she usually this bad?  She looks completely dead behind the eyes and seems more concerned with her hair than singing the song.  Am I missing something here?
People are bastard coated bastards with bastard filling.

Re: Lana del ray on SNL

  • Was this the one from January? That was a really bad performance. I have her album and I love it. When I heard "Blue Jeans" on SNL, I didn't even recognize it! I read somewhere that it was one of her first live performances of that caliber and she was obviously nervous so they pulled her next live performances until she could be better prepared for it. I've seen some other live performances (on youtube) and she did great. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure she has performed lots (under her real name Lizzy Grant) before breaking it big so who knows?

In her defense, she was obviously performing live. I think there is a lot more faking going on (ala Ashley Simpson) than we realize and we'd see of lot more of performances like Lana's if no one relied on pre-recorded vocals (or whatever you call them).

  • I've never heard of her but I saw this last night and was very unimpressed.  Boring.

  • She did look nervous as all get out and I agree about the focus on her hair.

Her attention seemed to be on...image rather than performance and that seemed like it could have been nerves.

At the very end she got done and she had a big smile on her face--which she promptly wiped off to look more "cool" and composed. I thought "what are you doing!? BE happy and genuine!" It was weird.

  • Everyone sounds terrible on SNL. I have no idea why they have musical guest or why they haven't at least fixed their set up.
  • Was this her original appearance or a new one? I hadn't seen the original one where everyone was saying it was the worst SNL musical performance of all time, but I was bored to death by this one.

I kept thinking that they should have just said they didn't have a musical act lined up rather than having Kristen Wiig doing another skit.

I did love the dress, though.
