Good Sunday Morning

Slow weekend here on the board :)

How were your weekends? Did you do anything exciting?
Do you have a long weekend next weekend for May Day?

Slow weekend here. I have another cold, something that seems to happen every other week I'm in school. We're going to a surprise birthday party for a friend tonight which should be nice.  We have Monday and Tuesday of next week off, and on Friday I have a field trip, I love those kinds of weeks!

Re: Good Sunday Morning

  • Good Morning!  It was a lazy weekend 'round my house.  Our weekends are 3-day weekends as DH doesn't work on Fridays, so our laziness started then.  DH did some recording in the spare bedroom/studio and I read some and watched some tv.  Sunday I did all the housework I had put off Friday and Saturday and went grocery shopping.

I had a nice long chat with my mother this morning.  Now I'm a bit sad and mopey -- not only because I am missing my family.  My friend from college who lives in Canberra is moving back to the US, leaving on Friday morning.  I've been a bit spoiled with having her so close, and in the same time zone, so I'm a bit sad now that she's leaving.

Topping the sad-fest off, my cousin is gathering addresses for her Save-the-Dates and I know I won't be able to afford two trips to the US in less than two months, so I know I miss her wedding.  :(:(  And DH's favorite great-aunt passed away Saturday evening, the funeral will be in Thursday and DH and his Dad are having a fight about who is going to go and who has to stay home to dog- and cockatoo-sit.  I hate being in the middle of the fight.

Sorry to be such a downer.

  • Oh man, I'm sorry you're having a rough weekend. Time for a bath with a trashy magazine? That always made me feel a bit better.
  • I am sorry about your rough weekend too, and yes the mag and bath sounds good!

I had a pretty nice and relatively productive weekend. Friday night I had a phone meeting with my dissertation adviser. She told me things look good and that the end is in sight and that I can defend somewhere between Sept and Nov. So happy because it really felt like the never ending story with that manuscript.I went to a  meeting of my political party yesterday, where I got elected into a particular position. Not even an hour later the president of the chapter had to leave and left the meeting to me. I was so pleased with myself which sounds smug but haven't felt a sense of accomplishment in a long time so that was very nice. I presided over the meeting until mid-afternoon. After the meeting I went to the farmers market where I picked up 50 pink tulips and some limes and then home. At home I made some diaquaries for my husband and I and we watched on many IN recommendations The Princess Bride. We ordered pizza and we watched some TV. This morning I slept in and went for a run. After my run my H fixed us some brunch and now were just chilling -- procrastinating our domestic duties (he was going to vacuum and I was going to clean the bathroom).I arranged the 50 tulips in multiple vases around the house and am thinking about making a collage later in the afternoon.

  • Dorothy, I'm so sorry you're having a rough time right now. :-/

And doctoranda - congrats on having your defense in sight! Mine is still about 2 years away, I'm guessing... How did you like The Princess Bride? I really love that movie.

We're having a bday party with some friends and family for DD today. Nothing big, and we decided to have it at a pizza place with a Sunday buffet so there's no cooking involved. We took the past week to just get used to the time change, unwind after all the stress in Germany, and, as it turned out, to let me recover a bit from the m/c. This week we want to start the routine we'll continue with throughout the summer, though, when I will hopefully make quite a bit of progress on my dissertation. Here's to hope...

  • I'm sick. I got out of bed for all of 15 minutes today. Felt terrible and just crawled back in. Think I'll stay here for the day.

  • Good evening! I spent the first part of the weekend positive I was going into labor, then the second part being told by midwives at the hospital that I could go into labor today ... or sometime soon. Consdering I have less than three weeks until my due date, "soon" seems kind of relative.
