How long has your house been on the market and how often do you show it? Weve done our "monthly" cleaning twice this week, Im over it lol. What do you do to get your house "show ready?"

Re: Sellers ?
I'm right there with you (see question below).. We've only been on the market a week or so and I'm over it. Plus, I'm a clean freak which should make it easier but instead I just obsess about things not being perfect and I spot dust everywhere.
We were on the market about 4 months before we were finally under contract. I am so tired of cleaning too, it's not even funny!
We had one open house each month and before each one and each showing I cleaned my a$$ off for a day and a half. I am sure I went way overboard but felt it was worth it. I left no stone unturned, pretty much.
Our house was on the market for about 3 weeks before we got an offer. We had several showings per week (but usually several days of nothing, followed by 1, 2, or 3 showings all clumped into a day or two days).
I have 3 kids. Keeping it in show condition was the most stressful feeling ever up to that point. Especially because my 18 month old is like the tasmanian devil and likes to "relocate" things around the house - all day every day when we are home. But once we got it in "tip top" shape, I basically turned into the cleaning nazi and never let toy-playing get out of hand, made sure beds were made at all times, and went on a very strict maintenance schedule (floors were mopped nightly, things were dusted constantly, the vacuum was out multiple times per day and I was pulling my hair out trying to keep things perfect at all times!) We went out a LOT and went on a takeout-almost-every-night binge in order to keep dishes piling up at a minimum and stovetop/countertop messes and "dinner" smells at a minimum.
Keeping my house "show ready" involved shoving a LOT of stuff into desk and dresser drawers. It also involved daily wipedowns of baseboards and door frames in high traffic areas. We have gleaming white (and big old fashioned) baseboards and door frames. I never realized just how much the kids smudge them up on a DAILY basis!
After we got the offer, we relaxed a bit. They've had their appraisal and inspection and now we're waiting till closing. We've relaxed a little. It's been impossible to keep it in that same "show" condition but I know what I need to do if we need to bring it up to that condition again before we close (which hopefully we don't need to do because apparently I've been slacking!!) :X

We were crazy lucky and happened to time listing our house in early April, when there just was very little on the market in our 'hood. We were under contract that first weekend and had multiple offers (and something like 35 showings). It was pretty nutty.
We had everything decluttered and kept only the very basics in the house (moved virtually all of DD's toys and most of our clothes to the garage, etc.) That was the only way I could picture keeping things clean with a large dog and a crazy two year old.
We listed end of January and are in escrow right now. We had showings about 4-5 days a week and open houses every weekend. Several offers but various issues with the buyers resulted in the deals not going through and we are hoping this time everything works out (scheduled to close on May 8th). I was cleaning like crazy constantly which was not easy with a baby, 2 cats, and a dog. It was a nightmare. To keep up, I really couldn't let it ever get messy. Every night once the baby fell asleep, I straightened up and had everything put away. First thing in the morning everyday (we were getting lots of calls for same day showings so I had to be prepared) I vacuumed, swiffer mopped, made bed, and cleaned surfaces.
It's a challenge and drove me nuts but I think my cleaning skills have improved ten fold and I got pretty fast by the end. I'm hoping I can take my new cleaning skills and use them for my regular cleaning once we move :-)
Once I saw how good our place looked squeaky clean, it made it all worth it though.
