Too short a gap between "long" run?

They're not that long - just long for me! I did a 8k run today (66 min of running if that makes a difference), the only time I can see doing my 9k (approx 72 min) is Wednesday. Is this too close together? My short runs are usually 6k 2 times a week and one lot of interval (30 min), so its really not that much longer, I just don't want to overdo it and the next chance to do the 9k is 2 weeks.

Re: Too short a gap between "long" run?

  • I don't think its too close together.  If you have time Wednesday, then do it then.  There's some rule about not increasing your weekly mileage by more than 10% for a slow increase but this really isn't that much over your typical 6k run lengths.  It's hard for me to think in k's though!
  • I guess if you look at the time it's less than 10% (I'm too lazy to covert to miles today!)
