I have a dumb question

regarding the new MetLife dental.

If I was previously enrolled in United Concordia dental, do I need to re-enroll with Metlife or will it switch me automatically? Is there an insurance card? I can't remember if I had one for UC.

Re: I have a dumb question

  • I don't think this is a dumb question because now I want to know. I know there is a special card for dental but idk if it's UC specific and I don't feel like digging mine out right now. I had just assumed it would automatically switch but you know what happens when you assume.

  • When I got the info about the switch, it did not send me new dental cards. But I also lost my dental cards, so I'm no help. I have to get new ones and I keep forgetting.

  • I couldnt find my brochure this morning, but I was under the impression that you would automatically be enrolled if you had UC. If no one comes to confirm/dispute this, I'll look more after work.

Met Life just sent our new dental cards, so I'm going to say that you don't need to do anything.

  • We didn't do anything.  We received the brochure in the mail about a month ago that went over the benefits and costs.  I haven't seen an insurance card.

  • I don't think I've ever used a dental card, so I hadn't thought to look for one.

What concerns me is that my dentist sent me an email saying they still hadn't gotten all the info from metlife, so she doesn't know if they'll be signing up for it yet.  What sucks it that I have an appt 1st week of May, and I wasn't able to reschedule to end of April just to get a last cleaning in before the switch b/c of the 6 months to the day rule.

  • I haven't received anything about the switch yet. Should I be concerned?

I'd give them a call, but you're probably okay.

UC was never on top of address changes. They STILL have my mailing address listed as our 29 Palms address.

I've never used my dental card. My mil ID has always been sufficient.

Uh, good to know since I lost ours when we moved.

I'm pretty sure your H has to go to DEERS and change your address himself.
