how much to budget for hotels in UK, France, Spain?
We are trying to get an idea of how much hotels will cost us in London, Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona. We're not looking at luxury options, but don't want to do hostels either. What is a general amount we should expect to pay per night?
Thanks!
Re: how much to budget for hotels in UK, France, Spain?
We just got back from a trip that included Paris, Barcelona and London. It depends when you're going; but since we weren't there for peak travel (although it was busy with Easter/spring holiday/break), we budgeted $225/night in Paris and $200/night in Barcelona. My sister lives outside of London, so free lodging there :O)
We ended up renting apartments in Paris and Barcelona though. We paid 125EU/~$165/night in Paris and $175/night in BCN (which includes the cleaning fee). For our Paris apt, renting saved us over $200 on what we'd budgeted for the 4 nights we were there. Something to consider!

Haven't been to London, so no help there. For Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona we wanted to stay around 150 euro per night when we were doing initial research.
I think for Paris our hotel ended up being close to 150 euro per night when we went in May 2006 (Hotel Muguet). Last May we we went to Spain and stayed at Hotel Preciados in Madrid which was close to 100 euro per night and then in Barcelona we ended up renting an apartment that I think was somewhere around 125 euro per night.
"general amount" doesn't really exist imo as there are so many variables.
you can look at sites like venere, expedia etc.. and see what the average is for when you want to visit and which amenities you'd like-searching that way may give you more of a solid idea and how flexible you'd have to be to stay in nicer or less nice places depending on the hotels.
