Doggy intuition

I think my 4y/o boxer, Kai knows somethings up with his mommy. He's been super clingy lately incessantly following me around my house, not allowing the pup anywhere near me, climbing on the couch (that he knows he's not allowed on) to lay his head on my belly. It has gotten bad over the past week. The pup on the other hand I don't think really cares what's going on.. Anyone else's dog know something was up when momma was pregnant? (I'm about 16.5 weeks now)

Re: Doggy intuition

  • Yes! All of my pets do!

I'm almost 7wks. My cat has to be near me at all times and likes to lay on my chest/belly and purr as loud as possible. I think he's trying to communicate with the baby! Everyone here know Rosco Cat is a rambunctious lil'guy and usually never sits still, so this is odd for him.

Our dog Jasper is super cuddly recently, too and Dakota is a bit more gentle, but I don't think she's realized we're having a baby, and we haven't "told" her yet! Big Smile

  • Oh yes. Ziva picked up on it be the time I was like 8 weeks. Collins has just gotten super cuddly in the past couple weeks. It's adorable and I love it. They don't love some of the changes we've made but they'll get over it lol

  • I had the feeling I was pregnant before I even tested, based only on my dog's behavior - my female aussie started laying on top of me in bed in the morning. She's NORMALLY not allowed in bed (two paws only) and if she is invited, lays between me and my h, so it was an unusual behavior for her. Every chance she got, directly on top of me, with a paw on each of my shoulders and her head snuggled next to mine. She doesn't do it now that I'm further along, thank goodness, but it felt like it was her way of being overly protective of me.

  • This is so cute!

I can't add to the intuition about being PG but my cats always know when I'm sick or upset... they follow me to the bathroom to "check" on me, and they don't leave my side while I'm sleeping. Seriously, my pets are my whole world. I don't know how people don't "get it." lol
