Re: Check-in time!

  • 1.  I finished some baby things and the small blanket that I posted yesterday.

    2.  I am working on THIS top (minus the ruffle on the bottom).  I've been working on it since January, but it keeps getting put on hold for various reasons.  I hope that I can this done on school vacation next week.  I also wanted to finish THIS blanket that's been hibernating since last winter, but now it's too hot to work on that!

    3.  We were trying to buy a house.  I'm a teacher and I got my contract for next year (yay!), but DH is a teacher's assistant and their contracts don't come out until July.  So the mortgage company won't give us the loan.  What aggrivates me about this is that if we were buying this house in January, no one would care about contracts for next year.  I am very bummed about this since we lived with my parents for a year to save for this house and now we are going to have to rent. vent. Sad

  • 1. Lots of stuff I posted in my "what I did on my Lenten vacation" post

    2. Almost done with the Oriental Lily dress, partway through a shawl collar sweater for DD, and started another sweater for her. They're all around her size, so I want them done before she grows out of them

    3. Nothing really

    4. Here's a PIP of some yarn I have. What should I make? It's DK BFL, and I have a little under 500 yds.

  • 1) Last finished project was the baby quilt for a baby shower tomorrow.

    2) Working on a quilted train mat for a friend.  I hope it is really cute- it was inspired by the car roll up mats people on here did a couple holiday seasons ago.

    3) I'm excited to see someone open one of my baby quilts- this has only happened once before since we live thousands of miles from most of our friends/ both of our families.

    4) I've got nothing.

  • 1.  Finished 2.75 skorts this week

    2.  Need to finish the waistband on the third skirt and then I think I'll make a dress.

    3.  Nothing really--just ready for the next 6 weeks to be done and then FREEDOM!

    4.  I really need to organize my sewing stuff, but don't feel like it.  When I have free time, I prefer to sew instead of clean.  Loser...

I'm making the rainbow without the clouds. The names will be in gingham. These are for my cousin's little twins' 3rd birthday. They are OBSESSED with the Wizard of Oz and that's what their birthday theme is.

    3. I wish I had more time in the day! I'm trying to get our house ready to go on the market (still!) and it's going so slow with work + sewing!

    4. 9 days until our a/s! Hopefully then I can focus on house stuff again. Until then, I'm on pinterest and shopping for a potential baby girl lol.

  • 1.  What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already! Just finished a quilt for a baby boy. Post/PIP was posted below.

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue? I'm working on two more quilts. One for my sister and another one for possibly me (for once)? :-)

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments? I got nada.

  • I haven't finished anything since the Saturday before last.

I'm currently working on belated Easter outfits. It's two dresses from 1950's vintage patterns, a smocked romper, and a tie/vest combination. All are in shades of ivory and seafoam. I'm also planning an edwardian embroidered top based solely off one picture I saw on pinterest.

After watching Doctor Zhivago, I've become obsessed with Russian peasant wear, embroidery, and edwardian fashion which drove me to purchase the Armistice blouse pattern from Folkwear and may spur the buying of another pattern for the peasant stuffs.

Uhm, you should read my blog because I'm a shameless hor like that andplusalso, I can't decide how to make the bodice of my daughter's belated easter dress.

  • 1. What have you finished lately?  I made about 32 wipes with my serger. Picture a square of fabric with the edges serged. :)

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue? House projects. I am staining the bathroom vanity and some curtain hardware, working on some things in the girls' rooms, and trying to get my sewing room in working order. All with a newborn attached to a b00b and a toddler attached to my hip.

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments? I'm just so freaking tired. My brain is not working. I have a garden ready to plant, but I'm terrified of taking both kids all the way to the farm store to get the first round of seeds (lol).

    4.  Say or PIP anything else you feel like sharing :)

  • 1.  What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already!  I've been busy planning a baby shower for my best friend. She has a boy already and is having a girl this time, so I decided to throw her a onesie decorating party. I made some freezer paper stencils with my Silhouette for those guests who were not comfortable with free handing, and it was a big success! Here are a couple photos of some of the things I made for her party:

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue?  There has been a huge baby boom in my circle of friends, so I will be busy creating some fun things for the new little ones in my life.

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments?  I just really wish there were more hours in the day. There are SO many projects I would love to work on, and I feel like I can never find the time.

  • 1. Finished my February Lady sweater a while back -- I don't think I AWed it here. Pictures here: http://ravel.me/may16/kdjzq It fits pretty well, but I think I would have been happier if I had made it a little smaller and more close-fitting.

    2. Working on Fanflower Fling shawl for my mom. I'm using Malabrigo lace (first time for laceweight and for that brand) and it seems to be going well. I finally finished the short rows and I'm excited to start the lace.

    3.  Short rows are not nearly as difficult as I expected. Counting was the only bad part -- I wanted to make sure I stayed on track since I had never done them before (the pattern has a very helpful row-by-row count), but I hate counting stitches.

    4. I wish I knitted faster. So many pretty things to make.

  • 1.  What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already!

I've been slacking...the last thing I finished was the urban hoodie for my friend's DD that I PIPed a few weeks ago. Or maybe it was a month. Embarrassed

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue?

I'm still working on my first knitted project for DS. I am working on the last piece for it. I better finish it soon because the weather is warming up! It's 18 month size, though, so hopefully it will still fit next fall! I also need to make DS some new lighter weight pants, and maybe a pair of shorts before we leave for our vacation in 3 weeks. And I need to make new strap covers for my soft structured carrier. Should be easy, but a mobile baby makes sewing a bit trickier!

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments?

    Not really... :)

    4.  Say or PIP anything else you feel like sharing :)

I've been working on my garden more lately with the nice weather! Planted some lavender in the front yard and radishes in the back. The radishes should be ready before we leave (we're going for a month so I can't plant too much just yet). Hopefully by the time we come back in June, it wont be too late to plant a late summer garden.

  • 1. What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already! I have a new cardigan and a lacy cowl to show you.  I'll AW them in a minute. I also had that pink and purple mystery test knit--it ended up being a poncho.  NMS, not even a little bit.  I didn't take a picture, but it was the prototype, so I'll be sure to show you when the pattern comes out.

    2. What are you working on or what's in the queue? I just cast on a cotton throw for my mother.  I'm hoping to finish it by Mother's Day, but I'm going to have to work my little fingers off to make that happen.  This is the pattern: Sunbreak

    3. Rants/Raves/comments? Rave: the new Twist Collective came out this weekend.  Not as many patterns for me in this issue, but then I don't like spring/summer patterns as much.  I LOVE Regent, though.

    4. Say or PIP anything else you feel like sharing :) It's Tax Day--dreadful for some, but it means I get my husband back evenings and weekends, yay!

  • 1.  What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already! I'm a terrible crafter.  I've been gone for 7 weeks and haven't touched my knitting since then.  I need to figure out what I want to make (shall I make a poll?)

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue? Nothing.  See above

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments? again, see above.  I've done nothing in nearly 2 months.  Boo to me!

  • 1.  What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already!

Ummmm I recently revamped a clothspin hanger for a friend who, for whatever reason, was very attached to this specific hanger even though the fabric was tattered and the frame was from 1922.  I got some outdoor canvas and made a new bag for it.

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue?

These two items for me! - one knitting and one sewing:

    http://sweet-verbena.blogspot.com/2011/07/simple-bow-tie-top-tutorial.html

(almost done just need to hem it shorter - making it in black jersery knit with a silver satin bow - goal is to wear it out Friday night for my bestie's bday with some jeans!)

    http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/eva-6

(Need to do the ruffle and sleeves but the body is completed - using Knit Picks aloft in eggplant)

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments?

My craft room is a mess and I have no time to organize it!  Also, I need a bigger craft room...hehe.  Also, serging knits is nowhere near as scary as I had anticipated ;)

    4.  Say or PIP anything else you feel like sharing :)

I started a resolution of sorts that I am always making myself something (clothing item).  Basically the goal is to always have something in progress, sewing or knitting, that is just for me.  No time goals, no certain number of items per week or month or whatever.  Just want to make myself stuff instead of other people all the time!

My next goal should be to create a craft blog...I need to come up with a cute name though!

  • 1.  What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already!

Hmm....I've finished a picnic table for my little guy and a picnic table for his bear, appliqued clothing for my little guy, hats for my little baby girl, a growth chart and I think that's it.  I should PIP some of these, on my to do list when and if I get some energy.

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue?

I need to work on newborn diaper covers.  I have 2 and would like one or two more.  I thought I had a lot of time, but time is running out!  I also want to make some zippered pouches in the shapes of animals...need to design those.

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments?

This pregnancy is starting to cause me to peter out early lately, plus heartburn...ugh!  I used to get a 2nd wind when LO#1 went down, not anymore!  I'm still crafting, but nesting time is suffering.  But...I did get to see many of your awesome PIPs...so inspiring!

  • 1.  What have you finished lately?  PIP if you haven't already!

I just finished a blanket for a friend's baby shower, which was yesterday. Lots of ooooh's and ahhhhh's when she unwrapped it and held it up. Smile The pic is terrible, but it's from this pattern and looks just like that.

    image

    2.  What are you working on or what's in the queue?

I'm working on this summer scarf in a sage green. I have some pajama pants and a bright pink skirt in the sewing queue.

    3.  Rants/Raves/comments?

I want to sew, knit, read, work out, cook, clean, and work. I can't do all of those things. It makes me sad.

    4.  Say or PIP anything else you feel like sharing :)

The weather sucks here today. Smile
