does anyone successfully sunless tan?

I am so white and not the nice milky complexion white.  Every time I try to sunless tan it turns out horribly.  Are you successful with it, and if so, how?

Also, the smell is so bad. If you have any recommendations on dealing with it please share.

Re: does anyone successfully sunless tan?

  • Ill be watching this. I am super white and even those gradual Tanners look bad on me.
  • Someone here recommended the Cheap-O Hemp brand lotion sold at Walmart. It's half the price (if that) of even other drug store lines and it works better than anything else I've tried. It also smells ok - kinda like Hawaiian Tropics tanning lotion but not nearly as strong - def not the bad, self-tanner smell.

It's not so much a tan as a 'glow' (I know that sounds weird but trust me). I was in Hawaii a few months back and have used it as my daily moisturizer (and by 'daily' I mean like 2-5 times a week as I remember) ever since I got back. Just this weekend I had someone comment on how lucky I am because I "must just be one of those people that keeps their holiday tan forever". I am not one of 'those people'. It's the lotion.

  • I'm super fair, and I've had really good luck with the Jergens Natural Glow foam.  It doesn't clog my pores or make me orange, it dries quickly, and the self-tanner smell is pretty much non-existent once it dries.  It doesn't make me tan-tan, but it takes the edge off of my ghostly pallor in a believable looking way.

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

  • I've used the Target brand and it worked pretty well for me.

The day I left was just my beginning.
  • I got to my salon and they do the air brush tan on me. I bought a 10 pack this year for $200 that will get me through all my weddings and various other events I want to look good for. I have had great results with these and not so great results with the at-home self-tanners.
  • I exfoliate really well and then add lotion to my knees, elbows and ankles and then I evenly apply loreal self tanner all over, except my face.
