Paris marathon recap

It isn?t the best well organized run-but to say I ran a marathon in Paris?made everything better for me.  The expo was small from what I am used to, but it was fine, once we got in.  The line was horrible getting in-only because they had one guy with a clicker?not the most efficient way.  Marathon start was scheduled for 8:30-by the time I went through the starting line it was 9:30.  We started on Champs Elysees and Arc de triomphe?so neat!  The cold weather was fine-but it was really windy-the entire time.  The stations were every 3 miles-had water, bananas and oranges.  Normally this would be perfect, but with the cobblestone streets, slippery citrus and banana peels wasn?t fun.  Powerade was given only at one point-37 km.  I had my mcgiver belt-so I was fine with my 4 bottle belt.  The port o? potties were so spread out-and only had 1 at each stop.  The line was awful.  I waited 12 minutes before I found a pole?

They have various groups of entertainment along the course.  The drummer groups were the best?they would play at one spot, and then move on.  Lots of energy.  Post race was ok.  Volunteers handed out medals as you corssed the finish line, and there was plenty of water, oranges, and bananas-the same stuff on the course.  I just wanted a blanket and some warm food...

It was fun running by the Bastille, Louvre, and Eiffel tower.   After the race, I realized I ran by a lot more, but I was only thinking about finishing standing up.  The cobblestones really did a number on my legs, and combined with me running against the wind-I didn?t PR-  it was actually my worse race time.  But I am so glad I did it-I had fun and met some great people.  I said I was going to stop at 10-but I met a lot of people that ran London and Rome last year?hmmm?
