So, I went to the Japanese hospital for the first time today. (BR)
If I decided to deliver out in town, this is where I would go. It was hard to find, and the road that led to the parking felt like a sidewalk, but H maneuvered us in just fine
It's old. The paper is coming off the walls, and it's just very Japanese-ey. The staff was very friendly and showed us where to go, We have a real tour on Wednesday, to see more of the Delivery/ recovery area, see what a private room looks like, etc. But today we were there to find out our baby is a girl!
Shhh no FB yet, our families haven't woken up to get the news yet, lol.
Re: So, I went to the Japanese hospital for the first time today. (BR)
We're excited! It was the most awkward, seriously professional Dr visit ever though. When he was done, he just walked away and the nurses came to clean me up... no " Ok, all done" and it was over with in 10 minutes. All business, no personality for sure.
That's what I'm leaning towards doing now. It would be easier for my mom to come out, I can hardly imagine TRAINING back 6+ hours with a newborn and a toddler O_O , our community is here, this is our life and our family. It doesn't make sense to leave for almost a month with out all of the help from our family and friends out here.
That sounds like the best solution for your situation. I would not want to be away from my home for almost a month without my husband or my home.
What are their theories on recovery? Do they keep you for days after regardless of your delivery or is it in and out?
C could go, but he would have to take leave to be there with me and DD the whole time I was there. They have a nice set up, but I don't want to spend that much time there. They like to keep you like 3-5 days I think (!) but apparently if every thing goes smoothly you can request to be released early. Which is good since they serve a lot of whole fish with eyes in tact.
RIGHT?? He immediately started calculating wedding savings. Lol.
Another girl!! That's awesome!
Do you know for sure they serve you Japanese food?
I stayed with an American patient for a week at a Korean hospital, but it's the one use by the military for basically everything since the clinic on base was so small. They have an "international" floor with English speaking nurses. Americans got American food. The Koreans across the hall would have ginseng soup and whole fish, and the Americans got hamburgers and french fries. I actually found it pretty funny. Unlike the States, we could order pizza delivery right to our room, so that complemented their underwhelming food.
I hear you on the weirdly cold experience. I had a similar one in Korea. They even put up a flag so you can see the doc who's examining your lady bits. Awkward.
I am pretty sure. I believe there is an option on the admission paper work to say that I don't eat fish or something like that. This hospital is really small, but I'm pretty sure H can go grab me what ever I want from home
If you meant a curtain so you Can't see the Doctor, apparently they do that here, too.
It wasn't a full curtain. It was about 18 inch high, and they snapped it up with the doc got down to business. It was really about flag sized. So bizarre.
Do you also have you wear just a gown skirt? I had to change in this little closet, where everyone changes, then come back out in the waiting room. Nothing on but my shirt and a paper skirt. It was so weird.
And then there was the bucket of speculums, waiting to be sterilized. Glad I didn't see that till the way out!
