Need Advice!!!

So here it goes:

I met this guy on Match & we've been talking since April 1st. We both decided that we had enough in common to talk on the phone (a few times) and text. We've been doing a lot of texting, we even met this past Saturday at a local park. I have to admit I am physically attracted to him as well his overall being. We have so much in common it scares me. (In a good way) We have both gone through a divorce and share so much in common just on that alone. The only difference is he has a young child and I have none. Which is not a issue with me. As stated prior, we've both met and continue to text and such. I recived a text yesterday saying he was thinking of me and so forth. He also asked what I was doing the weekend of May 4th (he won't have his child) I said nothing. He said ok we have plans. He said he wants to spend the whole day with me and that it was a suprise.

I'm fine with this. However, is it normal to do something like this? I don't want to rush anything or make any wrong moves. Plus, I don't want to say no because I feel like there could be something there. What would you do? I'm lost...this is all so new to me. LOL.

Re: Need Advice!!!

  • I think so but I don't really date so I'm probably not the best person to ask.

I think if you have that joking relationship when you talk, then him texting you to ask you out is fine. He asked you on a date.

  • As you don't really know him, I wouldn't want to go out on a "blind" date with him where you have no idea where you'll be going.

  • I'd keep May 4th open and be excited about what the surprise is that he's planning!  Sounds like fun!

  • I wouldn't go somewhere with someone I didn't know if he didn't tell me what we were doing.  Too many nuts out there, you never know

There is a lot of time between now and May 4th for you to find out what you are doing.  Make sure you meet him too and the place if very well lit and crowded.   Don't go on a hiking date or anything.

  • I agree with the others, safety is the only thing that would give me pause. I would just say something like. "A surprise sounds great! As you're planning I thought I should just give you a quick heads up that for meeting people at the onset I'm most comfortable transporting myself and meeting up in public areas. Looking forward to the day!"

  • Am I missing something here?  OP said she's already met this guy once before, so it would be a second date and she has more time to get to know him before then.  I'm not seeing the big deal here.  If you want to you can drive yourself...that's probably a good idea seeing as it's only a second date.  And that way he'll at least have to tell you where you're going.

  • I think it sounds like fun! You've talked to him on the phone a few times and met him. I think you'd pick up on a super creepy rapist vibe if it were evident. I'm fairly paranoid about personal safety. I would likely drive myself but not necessarily. Listen to your gut. If you're concerned about getting in a car with him then absolutely drive yourself. If you feel okay about it then go for it! There's something fun and romantic about going on a "surprise" date. kwim?

You could always ask him what to dress for because that would give you a hint as to what you're doing. If he says dress up then you'll probably be somewhere public. If he tells you to where hiking shoes and something you don't mind getting dirty that's a clue you'll probably be doing something more isolated. Maybe pick up some pepper spray just in case but I recommend that to everyone. lol. Relax and have fun!

  • I see nothing wrong with this. I'd just drive my own vehicle to wherever you end up going that way you have an out whenever you want if you need it.

  • I've read all yout posts and yes I will be going. However, I'm still not sure where but I will be taking my own car & meeting him there. I think he's just holding off on telling me until next weekend. I'm excitied & nervous at the same time. But I really do like him & who knows what we come of it. Taking things slow one day at a time. Wish me luck! xoxo
