Re: Weekly Check-in

  • I lost 1.6 lbs so I am now 0.4 lbs away from my half-way point goal! So exciting!

I am hoping that the Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution order arrives this week so that I can get started with that.  Otherwise, this week's goals are to get my butt moving and, if the budget allows, finally but my new cross-trainers.

I'm also going to try NOT to eat another bag of Quaker Mini's for at least a week - I have downed 3 full bags in the last 4 days...they are my new 'crack.'

Congrats on your race erin! It must have felt so good to finish it!!

Thank you! I'm really proud of myself Big Smile Now I want to sign up for a 10k in May. I'm trying to hold off since I'm already registered for a 5k on June 2 and several others over the summer.IDK if I can wait until Sept. for when I have my first planned 10k?

I lost 1lb last week. I'm still on cloud 9 about my race. I had so much fun and felt so well trained it really was an amazing race!

I don't have another training schedule made up. So this week I'm going to run when I want at the distance I choose and lift when we can fit it in. But I'll try to get 5 workouts in. I started stage three of the lifting program I'm doing, and its HARD and long! But I'm getting so much stronger.

My SIL started C25K and I'm going to run with her on Tuesday. It should be interesting to be the supporter.

  • So this is kind of a long diatribe, haha.

I gained 2 lbs last week (I weigh myself on Tuesdays and Saturdays. I cheated yesterday and weighed in, and originally the number was 3. This morning it was 2, since I shed a pound of water weight from this weekend). I only ran 17 miles. This should not surprise me, because I've been lifting regularly now, and well, I ate and drank like an azzhole in the latter part of last week. DH and I did not see our kitchen, save our dinner party on Saturday night, from Wednesday through yesterday at noontime. Ugh.

What do I do when the wheels come off the rails in life, and then the only thing going for my self esteem, ie my health and fitness follows suit? I have a little come-to-Jesus talk with my brain:

    1. The scale was GOING to go up anyways at some point, or at least stop moving down, and I was going to be okay with that. It's because muscle weighs more than fat and when you start lifting after a hiatus, more muscle = more weight. My clothes have not stopped fitting, rather the other way around. I can see a 6-pack forming. My azz looks fantastic in my old jeans.

    2. Speaking of which, a really awesome confidence booster is trying on some sweet/sexy clothes. Last night I had a fashion show for DH for some formal dresses that I will need to wear at various events this summer, like my 10 year college reunion and one of my bff's wedding. Seeing how good I looked in them in the mirror, and DH's face when I tried them on was a huge help.

    3. When something goes wrong, identifying the mitigating factors to get you back on track is a task similar in significance to slaying a dragon. In my case, this was a lazy unmotivated dragon, so it was easy. We ate well yesterday, I drank lots of water, and I went to the gym and flung around some heavy weight. (Sadly, I cannot run because my shoes are so blown out that I hurt myself running on Saturday and had to cut my 6 miles to a 5k. My new shoes aren't in at my local running store until today. 4.5 miles is on deck after work). I felt awesome afterwards, and it set the tone for the week.

So yeah, wah and not wah. I'm not worried about this hiccup, it's not a sign of things to come as DH and I deal with his impending health issues. Especially since I know I have to be strong and healthy to help him get through this.
