  • wow - I missed this story originally.  WTF.  Holding people up at gunpoint and demanding to see paperwork?  On what planet is this OK?

Also - this quote from the article makes me roll my eyes into my head:

"The police told me I did a good job," said Canoles, 45, who was never questioned that night. He spoke again with deputies on Friday and said he was cleared of any wrongdoing.

"Today, the mad scientist can't get a doomsday device, tomorrow it's the mad grad student. Where will it end?"
  • I'm glad they were arrested. I don't care where you live, this was just stupid and idiotic and my heart goes out to the couple.
    Slainte!

  • So, you go onto somebody else's property, into somebody else's house, and hold AR-15's to them... then you get arrested... and this is all you can say:

"I don't know what they can charge me with," Canoles said late Monday afternoon, before the interview with authorities. "This is my Second Amendment right. Look, this is the country out here, and we protect our own."

How in *** is it YOUR Second Amendment right to come into MY house with a magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle? I guess maybe I should be able to break into your house with a gun, and claim it was within my Second Amendment rights.

Andplusalso... this house sat on 11 acres.  I could possibly see it if these were close-together houses on a quarter acre, and you're seeing people messing around with door locks.  My guess is that, given the size of the property, it's probably not super visible from the street or even neighboring property. So, these two assclowns took it upon themselves to go wandering on somebody else's property with big guns to... what?... see what was up?

It's more vigilante justice. The biggest difference between these idjiots and George Zimmerman is that they were lucky enough not to kill somebody.

    Here's why:

Now, four days later, Canoles finds himself under investigation after the Newton County Sheriff's Office and District Attorney met Monday with the Kalonjis and their attorney, Don Samuel.

Samuel typically handles a higher-wattage clientele, including NFL star Ray Lewis, former Atlanta Thrashers phenom Danny Heatley and rapper T.I.

Hey, Canoles - these guys were your own.

I can't imagine anyone thinking this is a good idea in any case, but, again assuming again that the new owners were just run of the mill robbers - Why would he want to protect the property of a big bank that foreclosed on the little country guy? The bank is not your own.

There is no universe in which what the father and son did was legal. Everyone should have been taken downtown, and the police do 5 minutes worth of investigation to discover the truth.

  • Excellent! I hope they throw the book at them so hard it leaves a title imprint on their foreheads.
