Middle name for Nora?

any thoughts?   And am I right that the h is pretentious and I should leave it off of Norah?

Re: Middle name for Nora?

  • is the H is Sarah pretentious? I like Norah

as for middle names, something classic like Elizabeth or Jane

  • I have a cousin named Nora Ellen.  I believe Ellen is a family name.

I think Norah is obnoxious; I much prefer Nora.

I dig Nora Catherine, and Nora June is coming to mind for some reason.

    My DD is Nora Eve.

Holy crap.  My cousin Nora Ellen legally changed her name to Nora Eve!

  • the h thing was a joke!  I prefer Sarah with an H so I'm not the least bit consistent.

  • I absolutely adore the name Nora. I like Norah as well, but prefer without the H for some reason.

Middle names... Elizabeth, Katherine, Grace (LOVE Nora Grace)...

  • The first thing that came to my mind was Nora Jean.

  • I definitely prefer Nora over Norah. So pretty. My MIL's name is Nora, and she's named after her mom, who was a Leanora. Both so nice.

    Nora Claire

    Nora Jane

Nora Miriam (bonus on this one---means "wished for child" in Hebrew)

  • I love Nora, with or without the H.

Definitely agree, something classic for a middle name - Nora Elizabeth, Nora Catherine, etc.

  • Nora Lynn
  • Norah is on our short list for girls. We will use the H.

    Norah Ann

Norah Jean (although I was told this reminded them of Norma Jean)

    Norah Sue

DH loves the name Piper so Norah Piper may be an option.

    Nora Elaine

    Nora Elizabeth

  • I love the name Nora!  How many syllables is your last name?  I think that matters when choosing a long/short middle name.

then I'd go with either a 1 syllable MN or a 3 syllable one. Actually, 3 syllables might make for a really long name.

I think that since Nora ends in a vowel sound then starting the MN off in a consonant makes more sense to me. So like "Nora Ann" sorta runs together but "Nora Lynn" has a definitive separation to it.

Idk just say all the combos you like in a loud angry voice and see which is easiest to say ;)

  • I'd go with a 3-syllable name:

    Nora Elizabeth

    Nora Constance

    Nora Jacqueline

    Nora Gabrielle

  • Nora Jayne

I'm partial to the "y"...that's how my Mom spells it, so that's also how we spell N's middle name. :)

    Nora Jane

I'm partial to one syllable middle names.  :)  Scarlett is Scarlett Maeve, but Maeve is pretty Irish, which I know is not everyone's taste.  We also debated Scarlett Jane b/c Jane is my husband's grandmother's name.

  • Baby Name Genie (http://www.babynamegenie.com/baby-middle-names/) spit these out, but play around with it, maybe you'll find something you love. Then you can put in your actual last name instead of Heldbun, which is what I was using. :)

    Nora Danielle

    Nora Hailey

    Nora Madison

    Nora Megan

    Nora Beth

But Beth's not a real name!

I like more than one syllable for Nora.

    Nora Elizabeth

    Nora Emily

    Nora Miriam

    Nora Catherine

For some reason, some of these one syllable names are not doing it for me. Like they're making me sing, "Goodbye, Norma Jean," in my head.

If our last name didn't end in an A, I'd be pushing for Nora.
