For those that have had shoulder surgery can you come in

I am 5 months post op, I am still having issues sleeping. I can not get comfy I have to have something under my shoulder (the pain is at night while sleeping).    My other problem is now durig the day I have pain in my elbow, but not in my shoulder.  I see my ortho next week for pre op stuff for my ankle, would you bring up the elbow or pain at night?

Also how long were you in pain after surgery? (like in pain free)

I am done with physical therapy but my shoulder is weak,  what would be a good way to build back the strength?

Re: For those that have had shoulder surgery can you come in

  • It's been > 10 years since I had surgery on both of my shoulders, but I know I was definitely sleeping just fine at well under 5 months post-op.  I'd say 2 months post-op?  So yes, I'd definitely mention it.  The elbow and the sleeping sound like they may be separate issues.

As far as strengthening, can you continue doing the exercises you were doing in PT, but add additional resistance?  Get a harder level theraband (red to green or green to blue), or add light weights?

I had a rotator cuff repair wth decompression

I still do not have full range of motion, and the pain is if I am laying flat (I put a pillow under it) or move it beyong range of motion.   It feels like its very tight.   PT was a joke I could not go to where I wanted to, and all PT did was the same 3/4 things over and over.
