I had a first date!
Apparently Match is ridiculously popular where I live (yay for a big pool of potentials). I e-mailed with someone on Saturday then we moved to text on Sunday. We both have pretty hectic schedules and it just happened that Monday worked for both of us. We went out to drinks (er, drink for me - I'm a light weight) and a couple games of pool. It was really nice! He's funny and a total gentleman. He paid for drinks and pool. I paid for ice cream - I like a guy who offers to pay but will let me pay for stuff too. He gave me a hug goodnight. When he got home he messaged me that he had a good time.
I like that we're both in the same place... we're looking for friendship and casual dating but not searching for something serious. I'm kind of surprised. I had very low expectations for Match but it seems like it may actually be fun! I think we're going to try to set something up for next week. I'm limited on my schedule because I refuse to get a babysitter. I'll only go out if DS is with his dad (which is regularly).
Of course I've also gotten 1 message from a guy over 60 (my upper limit is 35), one telling me he's looking for a wife and that I seem like good material, one from a 45 year old who lives over an hour away who told me that I should really think of safety first (random much?) and one asking me if I'd like to hook up because obviously women with kids put out easily

I think my profile inspires the weirdos. lol. I mistakenly wrote that I was up for anything and that I would respond to anyone who took the time to message me. I decided to edit that out and I haven't gotten a weird message since. lol.
I've had several messages from totally normal (sounding / looking) guys. The weird ones are just hilarious imo. I've had more normal messages than weird ones.
Your profile is probably completely normal. Everyone gets the weird responses. I racked my brain forever trying to figure out what it was about my profile that made weird guys and pervs contact me. I came to the conclusion that they'll find you no matter what! LOL.

Yay! I am scheduling my first date too from match, and the cool thing is....it's fun, it doesn't have to be "the match."
I have gotten some weird one's too....like from +45-ers (I am 30)! Also just some weird some - did you think first - messages. Like ok, my screen name includes "cubs" I mention in the profile that I like baseball, Chicago. I get a message that says "blah, blah, blah. Go Reds!" Anyone who even knows baseball or Cubs' fans knows better. Deleted. Also this one guy just keeps saying 3 word messages....the first one was "hi." Really?
Haha. I know the feeling. Someone messaged me "Hi
" I thought ok... maybe he doesn't know how to start the conversation. No biggie. Except every single message he sends is super short and leaves nothing to respond to. I told him I didn't think it would work. His response? "Why?" LOL. There are some fun fails but my first date was really fun. He invited me to his softball game tomorrow night. I think I'm going to do.
