Hey Everyone.
We just booked a last minute getaway for this weekend to the NY finger lakes. We'll be there from Friday - Sunday. We are going to be staying in Ithaca at the Homewood Suites and are booked for the Cayuga Wine & Herb festival on Saturday. Any recommendations for dinners either night? Friday night we'd be willing to go where ever, but Saturday night after being out at the wineries all day probably want to stay close to the hotel.
Thanks for any recommendations!
Re: NY Finger Lakes
i was just up there last weekend. we stayed in watkins glen (thrus to sun). honestly none of the restaurants in the town impressed me. disappointing.
glenora winery has a nice restaurant but i'm not sure where that is in relation to ithaca or which wineries you'll be visiting.
I know it's a bit of a drive, but we had a fabulous meal at the Blue Point Grille at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel.
I can't speak to their dinner, but we were very happy with our lunch at the Crystal Lake Cafe at America Vineyards.
We also did a wine tasting class at the New York Wine and Culinary center and ate at their bistro, which I would recommend as well.
Have a great trip!
Another recommendation. Their food is delicious.
We also love Red Newt Cellars Bistro.
that's interesting. i was there thurs to sunday and didnt find anything special about it.
I lived in Ithaca when I was in college - alas, I didn't have the money to eat out very often. Some of my favorite places to go were:
Moosewood (esp for lunch)
Taughannock Farms Inn (up the west side of Cayuga Lake)
Maxie's Supper Club
The Heights
I'm sure all of those are google-able for current menus.
I lived in Ithaca for college. The farmers market is a must:

Unlike many markets, it has tons of prepared food for breakfast or lunch.
I've also heard good things about The Piggery:

I love Thai Cuisine on Rt 13

I second T-Farms. You will need reservations for wine and herb weekend.
The Rongo in Trumansburg is fun.
