Do you have your plans picked out for your new build? I saw you were doing a ranch too.
We are hopefully finalizing ours this week and sending them out for bids!
Re: Jim&Jamie
My husband works for a modular home builder in the area, so he custom designed ours for the intent that it would be factory built. He simultaneously told me we would look into building and showed me his sketch. It's a nice layout, and I had minimal requests for change. 3 bedroom 3 bath with an open concept kitchen, dining, and living rooms, and separate office with door, as I work from home.

That sounds a lot like what we're doing.
I (gladly) sacrificed a formal dining room for an office/piano room with a door!
Is it a courtyard style garage? I like that you have a kitchen window - my biggest pet peeve is windowless kitchens!
We're doing something like this:

(the left side of the house minus the 4th bedroom + similar exterior)
With the right side of the house more similar to this:

The plans DH drafted are on our desktop, so I have no idea how to post them. :-)
Yes, window in the kitchen over the sink. The master bedroom, kitchen, and living room will all surround a deck, with doors from the MB and LR to access.
When DH first designed the kitchen, he had the sink on the opposite side from the window. That was one of the first things I requested/demanded be changed. Why would I always want my back to the window?
This cracks me up, as DH wants to do dark gray siding with lighter gray accents and white trim and I immediately said I wanted a red door.
Good taste!
I think I'm going to go with a stained door, but I always like the red with gray too. :-)
Are you doing much stone on the front?
