WeWa check in?

It's been forever since we've done one.

I'm still trying to re-lose the weight I gained back when I was sick last month for a couple weeks. I am thinking it might be time for me to add in a bit more exercise too.

I made these last week and they were delicious and easy.  I highly recommend them. I will be making this deep dish casserole from the same blog on Wednesday.
At some point I want to try making her hash brown breakfast cup thingies.  They look delightful.

Re: WeWa check in?

  • I've finally stopped counting my points.  It was good during the 1st tri, but I've decided to lighten up about it for awhile and see how things go.  I've also decided to only weigh myself once a week.  This will be hard for me.  Some part of my brain thinks that when you stop for a few days  everything will go haywire.  I'm slowly working on reprogramming my brain.  Probably no reason for me to be posting this here, but whatever.  Those recipes look awesome Cali.  I want to try the first one ASAP.

  • I made her zucchini chips the other day, and they were delicious

  • I am definitely in a lull, which isn't surprising to me. After I got fat, I have always had difficulty getting under 160 and am currently yo-yoing between 162 - 165. I am heavier right now but I ate out a lot this past week and I suspect that most of it is water retention and sodium related.

I lost the 30 I lost so far without eating salads all the time (I don't love salads) but I think it is probably time to start salad lunches. And I am super happy I can start running again because that should help.

  • Weighing yourself once a week will be cutting back?  Oof.  Can't you break up with your scale completely for the next few months?  I don't want you to get too caught up in your weight.

The buffalo chicken cups are 4 points for one, 7 points for 2, FYI.

No way man.  I think once a week is fine.  I'm going to get weighed at my Doctor's once a month anyways, and that scale seems to fluctuate more than mine, so my scale is my true "baseline" for my weight gain.  Besides, I don't want any surprises at the doctors office, because that's a crappy feeling.  I like to know what to expect and if I'm "on track".  I'm being realistic about the weight gain issue (frankly I'm shocked I haven't gained more thus far), but I'm still going to do my damnedest to make sure I don't exceed the weight gain rec for my height and weight.

  • I switched to maintenance and tried to count points, but I seriously got too tired to log points. I just eat a million times during the day (a little here, a little there) so it was a lot of work and I'm working on a strict energy budget. Meal planning is also impossible. I make these delicious things and the next day the thought of eating them sends me running to the bathroom.

Although I am unhappy with what I weigh (I gained too much before my transfer because I wasn't allowed to exercise and I was traveling a lot for work), I was pleasantly surprised at the scale at my 7wk appointment. It is in no way, shape or form what I should have weighed, but not horrendous. Fingers crossed for my appt. on Friday. I just don't to be as big as a house, but bread, cheese, crackers and sparkling water are the only things I can eat consistently.

  • I've been losing and regaining the same effing pound for 4 weeks now. FOUR WEEKS. Anyway, I was officially 20lbs down last week and now I'm 19 down. Dammit. I still have 40 left to go!

  • I feel your pain, Bethie.  I feel like it took me forever to lose 30 when everyone around me lost it in like no time flat.  And here I am watching the scale go up or barely budge down.  Stupid uncooperative body.

It's so frustrating. I think a lot of it (in my case, at least), is that I do so well during the week and barely touch my weekly points, then I splurge on the weekends. I really need to spread the weekly points out more.

But I did have 3 people approach me at work last week to tell me how good I look, so that's encouraging.

  • You are looking good, skinny jeans.

  • Embarrassed

Thanks, lady! I still have sooooo much more to go though. I did "splurge" on two new pairs of jeans last week though since once pair was $8 on clearance and I had a 20% coupon.

  • Thats pretty awesome Bethie.  I know it's hard man.  Keep on keeping on.  Weight loss is HARD, yo.

  • Can I throw myself in?  I've been good for a long time and am down 23lbs. Well, I was last week.  Then Friday was my anniversary and I decided I didn't have to pay attention.  Then Saturday and Sunday was my anniversary weekend....so now I refuse to weigh in this week.  I got back on the treadmill and will attempt to try again this week....

  • That is great Bethie!  I just started up again yesterday...I weighed myself at 160, between this and the new asthma diagnosis, the doc says I need to get down to 137, so salad lunches it is!  My problem is that we are never home at a reasonable time for dinner, because of receptions and stupid work events.  Any ideas?

You have to bite the bullet and weigh in.  I always hated that when I had messed up, but the best thing you can do is face the scale and move forward.

  • EAB it sucks but, exercise at 6 am. Greek yogurt for breakfast, salad or veggies and hummus for lunch, a regular light yogurt for a snack. Eat before your event and then at the event only eat one small plate. One glass of wine and then water. The weight will come off.

On the days I work at both jobs, I bring two "lunches" to work. I eat one at lunch time, and then the other around 4:30 or in the car on the way to the second job.

  • My problem is I get home most days after 9PM, and I need to be out the door by 7AM.  So when i get home, I actually like to see E and spend some time with him instead of just going to sleep as soon as I walk in, so that has me in bed around 11-11:30--6AM is tough.  I am trying to put a block on all things in the evenings 3 days during the work week so I can start pilates, and then on weekends to do more cardio.  Once cleared by the doc, I am goingto start taking hte stairs instead of the elevator to work...
