Layover in Paris- May 7- election impact?

I head house hunting in Geneva week of May 7 and have a quick layover in CDG- do you anticipate that the election will have any impact on plane schedules (I believe next voting takes place May 6)? Apologies if this is a 'silly' question, but I just want to be prepared. Thanks!

Re: Layover in Paris- May 7- election impact?

  • Depends on if there are strikes or not. Your best bet might be to google news stories around past elections and see if any airport personnel went on strike afterwards. I'm thinking not, but then again it's hard to keep track of every time transportation personnel in France strike...

  • No you should be fine.

  • I doubt this will happen in May, but living in Geneva you should have a heads up: if the French air traffic controllers go on strike you're going to be stuck.  It's almost impossible to get out of Geneva by air without going over French airspace, even if you're not actually flying to France.
  • I would think it would be fine. I believe most transportion strikes have to be announced in advance and I don't think they would have time after the election results are announced to plan a strike for the next day. Wikipedia tells me that they would have to announce a strike 48 hours in advance. So any striking on May 7 should not be related to election results
  • Thanks ladies and thanks for the heads up on the 48 hour notice - living in Geneva this will be something key for me to know.
