Soccer in Spain - aka - do they fire rockets off in other countries?
Seriously now, is it really necessary to fire off fireworks (bottle rockets!?) every time your favorite team gets a goal and/or wins and/or your rival team looses?
I sincerely doubt that there's many Chelsea fans here in town. However, I've now heard at least 7 "booms." I'm waiting for upstairs neighbor to shoot one off - doubt it's long now.
Soccer season is going to fry my nerves what with its unexpected explosions. At least the people who "used to make things go boom in this area" are no longer formally, theoretically, in action so my mind no longer goes to that when I hear unexpected explosions.
Re: Soccer in Spain - aka - do they fire rockets off in other countries?
ETA: Sorry, for some reason I was thinking you were in Spain. It's never going to happen because all of their defenders are either hurt or banned from the next match, but I would absolutely love the FB statuses if Chelsea won Champions League and knocked the 4th place finishing team in the Premier League out of Champions League next year.
To answer the original question, I've never seen them at a BPL match and I imagine that if someone brought them in they'd be arrested.
In the Czech Republic at a massive rivalry match I saw a big fire get set in the stands and people were acting like it was no big deal.
At the promotion match for Geneva Servette last year people kept setting off flares in the stadium. Every time someone did they would posting something on the jumbotron saying something along the lines of, "we thank you to please not use incendiary devices inside the stadium".
Do they shoot off rockets at all games or just the big ones?
I wouldn't! Cause it might be Arsenal and that would be bad for my marriage...not really, but my DH is a fan and he'd be peeved. So I'm rooting for whoever wins toight to crush Chelsea! (Plus even if Arsenal is in 3rd, Chelsea winning would mean Arsenal would have to play in the preliminary rounds and would most likely get knocked out).
I'm not sure we can be friends. I kind of wish bad things upon Robin van Persie.
ladies, ladies,
I'm saddened by the question. It demeans us all. Let's be honest, I think we all know how Napoli deals with soccer. If not, I'll happily clarify... fireworks both inside and outside the stadium. All.the.time.
Many a night I've been awoken to bottle rockets at the disco- chicken-karoake place around the corner. You think I'm kidding... I am not. Happily, I've learned to sleep through most of it and, my charming pup, well, she was born in Campania, so fireworks/rockets/small explosives, NBD. Seriously, it's weird. Frankly, I'm embarrassed to show her the 4th of July in the States next year... she'll just think it's a slow Saturday night.
But yes, quite literally, Naples rocks. And I've got inside stadium pix from last weekend, if anyone thinks I'm exaggerating the drama. My poor Championship League loving H (all British all the time) was so, so creeped out, it was kind of funny. And again, creeped out at the artillery on the inside and outside.
